Summary: Falling in love with Charlie is too easy...
Review: From the very first words Charlie begins with, I could already tell that he was about to tell things he would never tell anyone out loud. In Stephen Chbosky's debut novel, the character he creates in Charlie is not only familiar, but real. Charlie starts his short, but amazing story of an anti-social person's view of the ultimate high school experience. But Charlie's anti-social ability definitely isn't about despising those equal peers around him, he's just the type of kid that would rather sit there and observe the moment. Sometimes, cherish the moment. Feeling infinite. That specific characteristic of his reminded myself of me. He's in ninth grade, and he doesn't have many friends his own age. Instead, he somehow gets involved with a close group of seniors. Just because they smoke, drink, and experience with sex, doesn't mean they're horrible teenagers. Though Charlie is confused by their ways at first, after spending more time with them, he slowly begins to see that it's all just a part of growing up. A way of finding who you really are. Charlie grows too close to the senior bunch, but only two in particular are his favorite people in the whole world. Sam, who he is gorgeously in love with, but can never be with, and her brother Patrick, who has a secret that he soon reveals. Charlie also mentions a lot about his Aunt Helen, who passed away long ago, and is the only one that frequently reminded him he was loved. He also mentions quite a few moments about his older brother and sister, and how they have helped him learn a thing or two. Later, I noticed that Charlie is too sweet and considerate with people that he doesn't take the time to deal with himself. As soon as he does, he finds himself lonely and depressed, trying to take back what he just did. The Perks of Being a Wallflower isn't just about one boy. It's more about the boy's beautiful, deeply emotional look on life, love, and relationships. And he describes everything with just the right amount of insight and inspiration. You'll want to hug Charlie by the end and never let go.

Summary: I LOVE THIS BOOK!
Review: Stephen Chbosky's, "The perks of being a wallflower", is a touching, funny, and memorable novel. I really enjoyed reading this novel because as a teenager in highschool I can easily relate to Charlie. Throughout the novel he faces many issues such as sexuality, drugs, and frustrations. I like the fact that everything is very realistic and relatable. When you read the book it feels like its you, when Charlie's sad you're sad too. As a teenager I can easily relate to Charlie because those are situations we are faced with in our everyday lives.
Besides frustrations, Charlie also has his group of friends that he has been there for and he count's on when his best friend commits suicide. I like that friendship is very strong in the novel but I don't like that Charlie is too dependant. I feel he should make decisions upon himself and not upon others. When he needs to make a decision he shouldn't think of someone else but of himself and what's best for him.
The ending had a little twist to it. To me, it was unexpected. Charlie seems like a normal teenager but then at the end he finds out he was abused by his aunt. Like the ending, I also liked the fact that the book isn't what it seems. By looking at the cover and reading the title you'd think that the novel is about someone who doesn't fit in but it turned out to be the total opposite. Charlie fits in pretty well. This shows you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover!!!

Summary: I would read it again and again...
Review: I loved this book; some people might not feel comfortable reading about controversial issues such as teen-age sexuality, memories, drug experimentation, thoughts, irritations, frustration, however I thought it was an awesome book. I'm not a freshman but I related so much to the book. I like the fact that all the events in the novel were realistically and more profoundly explored through the eyes of a teen-ager named Charlie. He is extremely intelligent, and was always there for his friends, but I do agree that he put everybody's lives ahead of his and thought that "it counted as love" He just had to do thing when he felt like it, not think about others, and just do it for himself. Even thought we don't know what happens after other than he is getting ready for his sophomore year I liked how he ended the novel. He says goodbye in a very simple way, I kind of felt part of him, because I had "listen and understand" to all his experiences like he wanted me when I stared reading the book. He has just lived such similar experienced like I have. It's an excellent book. I'm pleased that I read this amazing book, because I got to notice that I'm not alone in all the things that go on in my life and growing up.

Review: No matter when you attended high school, but especially if you did so in the 1990s, this book will strike a chord. I found it to be an excellent window into the life of any teenager. I have recommended it to anyone I have met.

Review: probably the best book I've read in a while. You immediately care about the main character, Charlie, who is a very kind and gifted kid who goes through some pretty odd stuff. I've forced this book on pretty much all of my friends and they have all loved it. I think Stephen Chbosky is an incredible writer, and I cannot wait for him to come out with something new!!

Summary: Predictable Yet Enjoyable
Review: Stephen Chbosky's first novel is funny, touching, memorable and with precise accuracy and precision depicts the voice of a boy in brink of adulthood trying to place himself in a ever changing world of deceitful appearances and every day small talk. Charlie is incredibly intelligent which is demonstrated by the commentary he gives on the games his fellow peers play and the hypocrisy of them. Yet he does not judge on them. Charlie is merely a spectator in a world that revolves around magazines and love hate relationships. The tittle of the book indicates he is a wallflower. Charlie speaks through letters to a anonymous person which later on in the book it is revealed that person is associated with is past. The letters follow the format a story teller would use describing his many anecdotes in a entertaining and engaging way. They in a sense are a journal of his daily activities. His personal trials and tribulations are easily relatable to anyone attending high school. With the help of his close group of friends consisting of Samantha, Patrick and Bill he manages to avoid depression for most part of the book but the shocking revelation of the abuse done to him by his Aunt Helen sends him into a psychotic world. He recovers to tie loose ends in the epilogue and start his sophomore year. The book contains some well written fiction that emerges the reader in the point of view of Charlie. At times some letters are incoherent and incomprehensible until it is revealed that Charlie was doing drugs at that point in time. This book makes a good read for high school due to the probable empathy shared by high school age readers and the ambiguity between the books reality and readers reality. With all its good qualities the plot is predictable half way through the book, hence the four star rating. This embellishes from the joy of reading the book. Yet the remainder of the entertaining letters redeem the book as a whole. As said earlier "predictable yet enjoyable".
