Rating: Summary: Thoughts by Tionne Watkins Review: i highly reccomend this book of poetry and gave it the highest ranking.it was clear and honest. i identified with a lot of what she said especially about being sick and was very touched by the essays she wrote. i think it was wonderful that she let you get to know a little about her . also being a huge tlc fan i've always wanted an opportunity to get some insight on any of them.
Rating: Summary: Much Props 2 Tionne! Review: I just recently ordered the book and haven't received it yet, but I already now it's gonna be good. All the shows that I've seen T-Boz and the rest of TLC on lets people see that she is someone that anyone of any age can look up to. She gets my respect for being so honest and a real down to earth person. She has done so much to help young girls try and deal with the stresses of growing up because they can relate to what she is saying. I've had to learn a little about sickle cell cuz my daughter has the trait, but even from what all the Dr.s told me I still never realized how hard the disease is on someone. I commend her for bringing that type of information to the public and opening so many people's eyes to it. My heart truly goes out to you T-Boz for even having to deal with that! I have been a fan of TLC ever since "I Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg" first bumped and become an even bigger fan with each new cd. I mean, how many other groups dedicated their cd to their fans! Much love, Much respect and may you have long continued success!
Rating: Summary: Best book i've ever read! Review: I just want to tell everyone how great this book is. It speaks on just about everything and it all comes from Tionne's heart. She's such a influential person and I congratulate her. Thanks Tionne :)
Rating: Summary: Very inspirational Review: I love this book for so many different reasons, and I must say first that Tionne has been a influence on my life since there first album. She is a very talented and beautiful woman. I have to say that Tionne and myself has a lot in common. The main reson I say this is because, in the book she said when she was young all her friends seemed so much more developed than her and that's exactly how I felt. I also wore two pairs of pants to make myself look thicker in the legs and my backside. Now I'm a little more confident in myself because I would always listen to TLC songs and video tape their intervews to listen to all the positive things they had to say. I always felt I had so many things in common with Tionne. I remember when me and my one of my older brothers first saw "ain't 2 proud 2 beg" we jumped up dancing and screaming,"oh my god who's this, they're dope. Every since then I've always wished my bother would marry Tionne so I could have a sister. Or I wished we could at least meet her.(I'm the youngest of 3 boys) I really want eveyone who hasn't read the book,or doesn't even listen to TLC to PLEASE go get this book. It's very inspirational, sad, funny, and very true. Everyone will relate to something in the book. So get out there and get it if you don't have it, and support Tionne T-Boz Watkins because you never what's in store. (I also wanted to say that I don't have sickle cell anemia, and I wasn't to familiar with it until Tionne spoke about. I would have never known if she wouldn't have spoke about it. She's very strong, because she still dances for her fans even though she can really hurt herself. TO TIONNE: YOU GO GIRL!
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK REALLY TOUCHED MY HEART Review: I must say Tionne Watkins has made me proud. Im not into reading books because i hate reading, but i just happen to pick up Thoughts and read it and now when i come home for school i read the whole book everyday. This book will make you wanna read it over and over again. It has excellent poetry and the storys that she tells is so touching. She talks about her grandma, high school years and basically just about her whole life. I love reading the poetry, im really not into poetry really im not but Tionne's poetry is the only poetry i will read. Its excellent her poems relate to real life and not fake life. I gurantee you, you will love this book. I let all my friends read it at school and they are on their way to buy the book. Im tellin you this the book is hot! I never knew Tionne was so creative. When i heard about the book coming out i didn't think it wasn't going to be that good, but when i read it i was in shocked. Your not in the right mind if you do not like this book, TRUST ME ITS EXCELLENT,GREAT,AWESOME,FABOLOUS what more can i say BUY IT!
Rating: Summary: Affirmation for Gen-X and beyond Review: I purchased my copy at Tionne's booksigning in Buffalo, NY. I was impressed by the layout and content. It takes true strength of character to open your heart and allow people to see inside. Not everyone has the courage to do this. With Thoughts, Tionne reveals that she is a genuine human being with feelings. She refuses to hide behind a wall or inside an ivory tower. Thoughts gives a well-rounded discussion and commentary on social issues, love, hate, anger, celebrity, and what's really important in life. Thoughts creates accountability with the reader and will cause the reader to do their own reflection on their own strengths and weaknesses. Don't look for Shakespeare here. Think of Iyanla Vanzant meets Maya Angelou meets Zora Neale Hurston. I recommend this book for it's honesty and validation. For those who have difficulty reading poetry, relax. Tionne's style is very clear and down-to-earth. The essays that alternate with the poetry and the poetry explanations close to the back make her meanings crystal-clear. I especially recommend this book for young people who are just entering adulthood and their parents who need help bridging the generation gap.
Rating: Summary: Positive and inspiring Review: I started reading the book last night, and I found myself agreeing with everything she was writing down. I was especially touched about the story of her grandmother's death. I also lost my father in a similar fashion and I started to cry remembering how painful being in that situation was. It's nice to have someone in the "business" be able to relate to you on such a personal level. I also enjoyed the pictures of her friends and family. I really enjoyed reading this book, and will definitely read it again! I recommend it for young ladies going through their late teens to early adulthood. I think they can learn alot from Tionne's "thoughts".
Rating: Summary: Nice Job, T-Boz Review: i think it takes a lot of courage to be able to put your words out to the world...I read Thoughs, and while the poems are simple, they have a lot of soul and feeling in them...i mentioned Tionne in a review i did for jewel's book " a night without armor" i made a remark about people who were complaining about how people like T-boz and Jewel use their fame to get published.again, the only breaks you get are the ones you make... i am so tired of hearing some poets talk about how their stuff is so good, yet wont share it with others, art is meant to be shared with the world... my philosophy is "if your poetry is good enough to be published, it's good enough to be read in public." keep up the good work, tionne.
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: I thought that for the most part, the poetry was really good. Some of the poems I didn't care for, but I like T-Boz and I always have. I think that it's great for her to want to give back to her fans her own personal thoughts. It 's amazing to think that even with all the money and the fame she still has lots of problems to overcome, just like us average people do.
