Rating: Summary: Good, but it can be misleading. Review: As a Naturopathic student, I enjoyed the book, but some of the information regarding Naturopathy is possibly misleading. Many countries only have Colleges of Natural Medicine or Naturopathy, where the only qualification is a diploma. People reading the definition of Naturopaths might be unjustly influenced to believe only a degree is valid. Potential patients should always verify that the practitioner is registered with the appropriate Government bodies and that the institute where the practitioner studied is also registered. Many diploma courses require a minimum of 500 hours of practical internship that degree courses do not. On the whole a good reference book for anyone interested in the alternatives to allopathic medicine.
Rating: Summary: Keep in mind, not a "how to" book Review: I would like to point out to my fellow readers that this book is not a "how to" book. If you think that this book will teach you how to use alternative medicine to heal, think again. This is a reference book, pure and simple. For example, in the chapter dedicated to massage, one might have expected to learn how to give someone a massage. But, instead, you are given everything else but that information. You get a short history of massage, some of the benefits, and places to go for more information. If you think that this book will teach you how to use the methods described in the table of contents, think again. This is a reference book, like a dictionary. You get definitions, history, and references for more informatoin, but you do not get a how to lesson. If you want to be able to look up data on a new age healing method you heard about on the news, then buy this book. But, if you are looking for a book that tells you how to use those methods, keep looking for another book.
