Summary: Back to The Past
Review: I liked all the twist and turns in this book, but what bothered was always refering to Primal Fear and the whole retelling of that story, you read on hopeing that he will get on with telling this story and not the last one... I still think that this book had some wonderful ups and downs to make it a good book to read.

Summary: I did this book for my college newspaper
Review: I liked this book a lot! I was glad I found it after I saw the film Primal Fear and read that book! Show of Evil is a great book for all fans of lawyer dramas, horror mystery novels, and I reccomend it to x-files fans. I kinda' knew that another sequel was going to be written beacause of the "x-filish" ending. And on a side note, I reviewed this book for my student newspaper and everyone that read my article wanted to read the book too!

Summary: Excellent job, Mr. Diehl!!
Review: I love exciting, heart-pounding, page-turning, psychological thrillers and SHOW OF EVIL was all of these and more. William Diehl does a great job developing the characters and plot line and I had a hard time putting the book down. Even if you have not read PRIMAL FEAR, he gives just enough information so you can understand what happened to Martin Vail 10 years ago. A Must Have for anyone who collects great novels.

Summary: Show Of Evil Did Me Good
Review: I loved reading Primal fear. I enjoyed reading Show Of Evil. You can say that the character I identified with was Aaron himself. I really love his character. The twisted personality. The Evil in him. It's really something to think about. A true psycopath. I was real happy he didn't die in the end. I am preparing myself for Reign in Hell. Read Show Of Evil. It'll do you good as it did me. William Diehl is at his best.

Summary: Disappointing writing for a decent story
Review: I made the mistake of reading this one immediately after reading Primal Fear, which I mostly enjoyed. I was so disappointed by the way Diehl seemed to cut-and-paste descriptions and characterizations from Primal Fear. I found myself reading exactly the same words when the author referred to Vail's hometown, Guido's restaurant, and Jane Venable's killer courtroom attire. If you've read Primal Fear, give Diehl a rest before you pick up Show of Evil. Hopefully you've put his descriptions out of mind and the text will appear refreshing (as it was the first time) instead of replayed.

Summary: Excellent!! When's the sequel out??
Review: I read Priaml Fear earlier, and thoroughly enjoyed it. But this book definitely provided an excellent sequel to the story, knowing 'Primal' really had not come to a conclusion. I also liked the flashbacks to 'Primal' in that it helped in relating this story to the earlier events. Now I'm anxiously awaiting the sequel ... this book also did not come to a final conclusion, so Diehl must be either planning or already writing it.

Summary: Awesome
Review: I read this book on hols in Cyprus, april 2000, from the first page i knew that it had the makings of a great story. The first book i hav eread of his and i will be reading more of them without a doubt. Simple story flow with impacting characters, Arron Stamplers the bad boy and Deihl portrays him in the most evil and destructive light, the book stalls a little in the midle but picks up with verocity right until the end. Only drawback was that there were a lot of character names thrown into the fray who were not really significant later on, i found myself back tracking to reasses the names and what part they played. Cant wait to read all his other books and can safely say im now a big fan! ENJOY

Summary: Primal Fear or Show of Evil? It's a toss up!
Review: I saw Primal Fear, then I read it, then I rushed to the nearest book store and bought Show of Evil, and when I finished it, I had goose bumps all up and down my arms and legs! What a thriller -- up until the last sentence. If I had to choose which book I liked better, Primal Fear or Show of Evil, I would have a really tough time! I thought that Show of Evil had a much more complex plot, and it even seemed convoluted at times, but the pay off was pure brilliance. Next in line, Reign in Hell.

Summary: Great follow-up to Primal Fear, hope for another in series.
Review: I truly enjoyed this fast paced thrilling book. I can only begin to anticipate a follow-up to this great story, I keep searching and hoping one is to follow soon.

Summary: Disappointing Sequel
Review: Oh, I am so tired of authors throwing together a book in order to capitalize on the success of a previous effort and/or movie!
This is the sequel to "Primal Fear", which was a suspenseful and gripping read. This novel can't decide what it wants to be. Diehl throws in sub plots that distract from his main story.

In the main plot,Aaron Stampler, the multiple personality, or possible faker, from "Primal Fear" is supposedly cured and about to be released from the mental hospital in which he has been incarcerated. However, murders are being committed that bear Stampler's unmistakeable MO. The people being killed are all connected to Stampler and their deaths appear to be revenge murders. Has he a disciple? If so how is he making contact? He has had no visitors for ten years, no outside contact at all, in fact. Martin Vail, Stampler's former defense attorney, is now the DA. He enlists the aid of Jane Venable, who prosecuted Stampler in the first case, to help investigate the new murders.
Surprise, surprise! The two fall in love.

The sub plots involving bodies found in a landfill, a wife murdered by an abusive husband, and a disgruntled employee killing her boss, go pretty much nowhere and harbor no surprises for the reader.

The writing is careless--how can anyone see a shadow looming up BEHIND her? The editing is sloppy, and the changes in the characters from one book to the next not very believable. The ending is straight out of a B horror movie and leaves room for yet another sequel--please no, no! I was very disappointed.
