Summary: Remember Me
Review: Remember me is an interesting book to a point. It will inspirer you to think more into the future and not just paying attention to one thing. Mary Higgins Clark is a good writing you gets into great detail. She explains everything right down to the bottom. I like the book a lot because of the detail that is put into it.

Summary: Pay Attention
Review: If you have never been exposed to Mary Higgins Clark's enthralling brand of suspense, this is the place to begin. "Remember Me" contains what I believe to be her most ingenius plot device ever, right up there with Agatha Christie's "Ten Little Indians" and "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd." A real mystery buff's mystery combined with Clark's typical flair for weaving in a romantic yet not distracting subplot that helps you really care about the characters and what happens to them. This is one of the big differences between Christie and Clark, in my view. With Christie's mysteries you always hang breathlessly upon the outcome of the mystery itself; with Clark it is not only the solution that keeps you reading (often for far too long!) but a genuine attachment to at least the main character. And sometimes even to an engaging, highly likeable killer! The comely killer caper keeps the reader from noticing what in retrospect, always in retrospect!, are fairly well defined clues. We begin thinking with our feelings, glossing over the obvious, something that never befell a Hercule Poirot or a Miss Marple, but often misleads Mary Higgins Clark's heroine. And then when the awful, horrifying truth finally begins to dawn, sometimes suddenly ,sometimes bit by bit, we feel angry and betrayed by the killer, much like Miss Clark's protagonist often does. If only she would make her killers loathesome types it would be easier to keep an eye on them. Oh, she has her loathesome characters all right, and sometimes they turn out to be the killer, but you can never be sure. The rule I've found most useful: suspect everyone but the heroine. I wonder how I'd feel if one of Miss Clark's books tagged the female protagonist with the crime. It would be a nightmare.

Summary: I'm Already Forgetting It
Review: Clark always writes a fast-paced book with plenty of twists and turns, but I am not as enamored of her work as many readers are. This book had, to me, some rather silly gothic devices such as the secret room and spooky recordings, and the blackmail plot seemed contrived. I didn't think it had the edge and power of her earlier books. Neatly crafted, but hardly enthralling.

Summary: YOU WON'T FORGET "REMEMBER ME"
Review: Right from the start, this book had me hooked simply because of the Cape Cod setting. Menley and Adam Nichols have rented an old captain's house called The Remember House. As with most very old houses, there is always the rumor that it is haunted. This one is no exception. But Menley has other demons to face besides the ones haunting this house. Her son, Bobby, was killed when a train hit the car Menley was driving. She has been guilt-ridden ever since. Only the birth of their daughter, Hannah, has been able to help Menley with her depression and put their marriage back together. Adam feels that a little rest in such a beautiful place is all that Menley needs to return to her old self.

Shortly after their arrival on the island, Adam, an attorney, becomes enmeshed defending Scott Covey who is accused of murdering his wealthy wife Vivien. While Adam is busy with business, Menley is slowly but surely having a nervous breakdown and it seems to the reader that someone is trying to make her go crazy in true "Hitchcock" style.

As usual, Higgins Clarke throws in some extra characters and clues to throw you off track and hits you with her customary surprise ending.

Please note that I'm giving this book 5 stars for its genre only as well as comparing it to other books by this author.

Summary: Remember Me
Review: Remember Me was absolutly fantastic. It transported me right to Cape Cod. The suspense and the mind games played on Menley kept me on the edge of my seat right down to the last page. This was my first experience with Mary Higgins Clark and since then I have read all of her books that I could get my hands on.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: First time reader of Higgins Clark!
Review: This book is totally awesome. I have never read one of her books, and let me tell you I'm not stopping now. Remember Me is suspenseful and I couldn't put it down. I was gasping after every chapter. The plot of a young woman just losing her little boy and trying to be strong makes you want to give her a big hug and say "Everything will be okay." Mary Higgins Clark gets you so into the story you feel you know the characters "like a book." The entire book is awesome and everyone should read it. The twist at the end makes it all worth while. If you're a first time reader of Mary Higgins Clark you'll turn into her number one fan. I know I am now.

Summary: Two Tales for the Price of One
Review: Two tales for the price of one, imaginatively set almost 300 years apart, but still managing to converge. A beautifully researched, supernatural tale of betrayal and intrigue. Abridgement is okay, reader is smooth and a bit dramatic, but makes her transitions in a satisfactory manner. Characters are a bit self absorbed, but who isn't?
