Rating: Summary: Indescribably Suspenseful Review: I loved Where Are The Children? by Mary Higgins Clark. It was very suspenseful and kept me on my toes. I seldom like to read books, but i could not seem to put this book down. I liked the way that the book was suspenseful, yet it did not scare me to the point of not being able to read it. I found it very easy to understand with a lot of description. The book was easy to picture and imagine in my head. I felt as though it was all happening right in front of me like in a movie. I felt so involved in the book and i found myself wanting to what happened next. Higgins used foreshadowing throughout the book. It is foreshadowing when Dorothy goes to Courtney Parish's house and finds Missy's mitten on the floor of the garage. Some of it may not have been that obvious until the end. She also used imagery in her vivid descriptions. I found her style of writing very effective and easy to comprehend. I would recommend this book to anyone. I think girls might enjoy this book.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing read. Review: This was my first MHC book and possibly my last. I found the characters one dimensional, the "mystery" transparent, and the plot mediocore. I was interested enough to read the entire book, but was disappointed by the end. I never felt like I got to know anyone. I *may* try one more MHC book, but I really hope it is several times better than this clunker.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: This book really was interesting. I just couldn't put it down. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a "good mystery"!
Rating: Summary: How wonderful is the author? Review: Mary Higgins Clark is starting to become one of my very favorite authors. Her books are very well written with excellent characters and believable plots. "Where Are The Children" is no exception. The kidnapping plot and the life of Nancy Eldredge are very exciting. What people don't understand about Mary Higgins Clark is that her books don't end abruptly, she just smacks you right in the face with the plot and the climax right away. I love suspense and her style is superb. I would recommend "Where Are The Children" to anyone who enjoys a good read and doesn't like drawn out and over descriptive suspense. A couple of more of my favorites are "A Cry In The Night" and "All Around The Town".
Rating: Summary: Where are the children? Review: I rate this book at 4 only because i like mystery stories. So i this book. She doesn't really describe where the children went when they were kidnapped. She doesn't talk alot about the main character's husband. She also doesn't describe where they found the kids and what kind of condition the kids where in.So i rated the age group for my book at the age of 13 and up because you have to like mystery books. You have to be able to understand books and like them.you also have tolike to read.
Rating: Summary: GREAT Review: Suspenseful throughout, but just try putting this book down the at the last 100 pages! This is my first MHC book; looking forward to reading her many others. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Parents¿ worst nightmare¿ Review: Being a mother myself, I clearly & painfully understood what Nancy has undergone all through those years. Losing a child is totally heartbreaking...much worse losing both children & being suspected of killing them yourself at the same time. One will never outlive the guilt that eats you inside, eternally blaming yourself for the loss of your loved ones. Remember that no mother in her right mind will hurt her children. We should always open our eyes & remember that there are always bad people out there perpetually committing evil deeds. There are Carls out there who are sick-to-the-bone who do nasty things to their own children. There are also the Jed Coffins who because of their self-righteousness do more harm than good - hastily judging people when they are supposed to be seeking the truth & protecting the innocents. We should always be aware of our surroundings & be on the lookout. Not all the time do we have a John Kragoppoulos who is willing to put himself in danger for our own safety. Nor do we always have the Keeneys or the Wiggleys who have the presence of mind to raise small unusual items, which could be substantial evidences after all. Not all the time do we have Michael's who are very alert & responsible despite their young age. I am not surprised to learn that this novel is MHC's best --- probably because it's her first. But also, she is a talented writer who perfectly creates her crafts no less. 'Where are the Children' is indeed a very exciting, fast-paced story but also is very truthful about the social illnesses & conveys an important message of trust, love & support. I am very grateful to have a loving husband & a lovely daughter...& am happy for Nancy who finally found peace & bliss with Ray, Michael & Missy.
Rating: Summary: The Best of the Best! Review: Ever since I discovered Mary Higgins Clark I've enjoyed her work! But this book has to be the best by her that I have read. Maybe it is just because it was the first but I don't think so. You stay on the edge of your seat wondering if this lady can stand any more. And what Mother's heart wouldn't be moved by such a tell. It brings parents greatest fears to life and helps to work them out in this well written novel.
Rating: Summary: great book Review: i thought this was a great book! the plot kept changing, which made it more interesting. i never wanted to put the book down! i recomend that u buy this book!
