Summary: Shocked at the bad reviews!
Review: I can hardly believe my eyes as I read all the bad reviews. In fact, the book clearly states that it's a book based on tactics. I have a hard time understanding those reviews saying there is a story missing. The cover tells you it's about tactics, not story.Yes, the story is missing but that's what the book is about and quite frankly, I like that. It digs right into the action. Yes, it's technical and I like that too. You finally get to see what it's like to be a sub captain without having to hear why psychologically he chose to work in that field or what color his hair is. A great read! Easy to follow with a glossary included.

Summary: The Biggest Dissapointment
Review: As a total Tom Clancy Fan, I am sad to say that this book is as awful as it can be, to say it's boring is a understatement. If Tom Clancy thinks he can use his fame to sell garbage like that, he will lose his readership very fast. This is definitly the last time I spend money on this author!

Review: I've always depended on Mr. Clancy for great character development, plot and realism. This book fails on all three points. It's based on a video game, and the video game would have to be more realistic. Please, Mr. Clancy, real books in the future.

Review: I read half the book and just couldnt finish it...it was awfull! Clancy has really gone downhill from "Hunt for Red October" and "Red Storm Rising." The story is unbelievable , predictable, an insult to the readers. Can you really believe that one sub scored sixty victories in one operation? READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU BUY IN THE FUTURE!

Summary: How to write a book using a word processor
Review: I gave this book a one-star rating. If I could have given it a lower rating, I would have. There ought to be a law against wasting trees in this manner. As I read the book, it struck me that the battle action sequences were all cut and pasted from boilerplate text. The plot was plausible, but the story as it developed was not. The story is repetitious and even boring in places. In the past, I've bought Tom Clancy's books on the strength of his name. I'll not make that mistake again. This one was a total let down; I don't care what excuses the author(s) choose to defend their work. This book stinks, in or out of the bathroom. I finished the book just because I hate not finishing a book. I recommend that you save your time and money: this book is worthy of neither.

Summary: I'll wait for the movie next time
Review: I found this book to be overly-technical and rather predictable in the plot. However, the synopsis, while outdated by a few years, is feasible. Many military experts do see a war with China within the next few years. Whether it will be a hot war or a cold war is up to the current Presidential administration. To tell you the truth, I expected better from Tom Clancy.

Summary: How to fill 300 pages and not get anywhere.
Review: As someone who has enjoyed his books immensly, I was beyond disappointed with this book. I don't think that this book is targeted towards his usual audience. Very dull writing. No true plot. No characters. No real action. Hmm no real anything. Good thing I bought it cheap.

Review: Oh my gosh, who wrote this trash? Surely not Clancy! This is what I would have written in 7th grade. Team USA scores again! Plot? Character development? What's that? Where do I write to get my money back? Who will reimburse me for the 3 hrs I flushed down the toilet trying to find a plot? I'm flabbergasted! I'm flummoxed! I'm incredulous! I never thought I'd find a bad Clancy novel. Now I've seen (read) everything. Take a looooong vacation Tom. You obviously need it. p.s. I've read the messages explaining that this novel is background material for the CD-ROM game. That's fine, but someone should have slapped a sticker on the cover identifying it as "totally boring and moronic - a complete waste of time and money for the PC game enthusiast"
