Rating: Summary: Allen has a good plotline, but... Review: This book was great. The plot is well-thought-out and exciting. At least this book tells you that it is part of a trilogy. A certain other SW author rather infuriated me with that surprise. The only problems I saw were minor ones: he needs a better editor, or at least a spell-checker. Also, there never was an R7 model Astromech; they quit at R5s. Other than that, it's a very good novel. I liked the mixture of Han, Leia, Luke, Mara, etc. with Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin. It left a pretty good cliffhanger, too. Not the best one I've read, but it was good. If you're a Jade fan and really want to get driven up the wall, read _Specter of the Past_. Still, I would recommmend this book to anyone who enjoys Star Wars.
Rating: Summary: Great intro to the literary world of Star Wars Review: This is a sure winner with any Star Wars fan. Being my first novel ever, it was a great book to begin my journey in 1995 to the world of good literature. But even a better intro to Star Wars. It is nice to not have the heros fighting the Empire, which gets old. The planets of the Corellian system are nicely unique. I couldn't put this book down. A must read. His descriptions are fantastic.
Rating: Summary: Good but needs more dialogue Review: This is a wonderful addition to the SW universe. I am glad we finally learn about Corellia. It sounds like the beginning of a good trilogy. My only dislike is the lack of dialogue. The character most accurately prtrayed is Lando, it would be just like him to marry for money.
Rating: Summary: Excelent adventure Review: This book puts every character in the wrong place at the wrong time, and the Human League of Correlia grasps the time to put down the smack on Correlia and the Solo family. With Luke and Lando convieniently off covorting the galaxy daddy Han gets in trouble Leia has a hard time and the childrendo what with a droid the children. Chewie takes the falconand the children? Who is Hidden Leader? You'll love this book.
Rating: Summary: Oh well, another book to put in the archives. Review: Although I took great delight in reading these three novels (they were the first SW novels I read) I still think that the story was a bit flat. First of all, the storyline was very depressing. The twins and their 'sidekick' Anakin outwitted their parents time and again, which being a 13 year old seems to be very unlikely. Second, Solo and Organa Solo were absolute suckers, and the return of Gaeriel Captison (who was bland anyway) made the book even flatter. It was truly a disappointment now that I look back on it.
Rating: Summary: A great explanation of why Correlians carry a stereotype Review: This book really goes into the history of Han Solo's life, as well as the fascinating history of the Correlian Sector . It really builds depth for all of the new characters introduced, as well as how stunned that everyone is with Anakin is . Probably the weakest of the trilogy ( which is to be expected when you have the first of a series, as it has to do all of the explaining ), it is still a very good book in it's own respect . I would highly recomend it to anyone the least bit interested in Star Wars and/or science fiction .
Rating: Summary: Good Book Review: A very good book. You finaly get to know what it is like on Corelia, Han Solo's home planet.
Rating: Summary: Interesting story but the main characters seem flat Review: I have completed the trilogy and found myself wanting more. More as to why all of it happened in the first place. More of the Force. I was convinced, after reading the Thrawn Trilogy, that Mara Jade had become a friend of Luke and the Solo family; that she was endowed with Force Abilities. Here she is merely used as a plot device to help Leia get out of some trouble, and no mention of her Force abilities are made. If you are a Mara Jade fan, as I am, be prepared for this. The children's parts are well written, as if the author has children at these prcise ages. Anakin Solo is a hoot, Jaina nad Jacen are there to supoport him and not deeply explored. Han and Leia seem almost secondary to the story line, as is Luke. I especially liked the Drall and the Seloneian (non-human races). I would have like to have seen more interaction with the pompous Q9-X2 and Threepio, and Artoo. There could be a fine short story just exploring these three together. Overall this trilogy is a quick, good read which exposes more of our Star Wars galaxy, but more attention to the reasons the characters did what they did is warrented.
Rating: Summary: A look at the Solo family and their father's homeworld. Review: A tour of Han Solo's home planet, with involved plot lines and exciting characters. On a vacation to the system, the Solo family is trapped inside their own rooms. The children manage to escape and a refreshing look at their youthful mannerisms is fun to read. Another suprising twist, Lando is wife hunting. He drags Luke around as well, loking for the perfect investment. Unfortunately, there is a small bit of overkill and it muddies up the adventure. The overuse of certain themes is covered up by amazing plot turns and exciting characters. A good read, but not very memorable.
Rating: Summary: A good beginning Review: I haven't finished the trilogy, but so far I am interested. The interplay between Luke and Leia at the beginning along with Han's maturity as a married man were fun. The plot itself was chilling. It was firmly set in the Star Wars universe, but the underlying danger was one we face today. "Ambush at Corellia" was not only a good SW novel, but an interesting story in its own right. It is worth the cost.
