Rating: Summary: A decent SW read Review: By itself, this is not a breath-taking book. The writing style is simplistic, there are multiple basic spelling errors, and let's be honest, the book is basically just a springboard for the rest of the trilogy. That being said, however, (and given that this is a SW book, a member of a line that has been a huge disappointment since Zahn,) Ambush At Corellia is a good, fun read.True, there is no real action. (But that's part of the point: the galaxy is now a very boring place.) And Allen could have spent more time on his names (the Human League, the Hidden Leader). There are, however, some major good points. The Solo kids have been developed superubly. Also, Mara Jade has shown some growth as a character, and while not entirely true with the character Zahn drew for us so spectacularly all those years ago, Mara in this book is much better than she was in the Jedi Academy Travesty. Also, Allen's writing style is not unlike Stackpole's. Actually this book came out before X-wing, but the X-wing books are better, so I'll say Allen is like Stackpole. One problem, however, is that the plot takes a LOOOOOONNNNNGGGGGGGG time to get rolling. And why does Leia get a new lightsaber? Didn't she already have one? Also, Luke and Lando really do nothing in this book except take up chapter space. PLus I was hoping for some more Han Solo history, like stuff from Han Solo Adventures. The Talus and Tralus thing is a little weak. Finally, after looking at the cover I was hoping Corellia would be a little more unique of a world (like with the crazy towers on the cover or something) like planets are in Zahn, but I can't begrudge Allen for that. All in all, a good SW read.
Rating: Summary: A solid Star Wars book. Review: I confess, this book was a bit slow moving at first, but I managed to get into it, and from then on I enjoyed it. Leia, now Chief of State of the New Republic, goes to Corellia for a trade summit. Han and their three children come along, so the trip will be something of a vacation for them. Exploring his home planet for the first time in years, Han is shocked at how much it's changed for the worst. Meanwhile, Mara Jade has recieved a strange message intended for Leia, and Luke has gone off with Lando, who is in search of a rich wife (that was the one distracting subplot - hope it starts to make more sense in one of the next two books). The kids wander off during a visit to an archaeological and discover a strange technology. As tensions on Corellia worsen, a new leader threatens to rise from the shadows - with possible explosive and deadly results. If you're new to the Star Wars books, this is probably not the best book to start off with. You're better off reading them in chronological order, which I haven't done, unfortunatley. But if you have enjoyed other Star Wars novels, I would reccomend this one.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining, but not the best Review: I found this book entertaining, but not the best Star Wars book by far. The plot is interesting. The Solo family decides to make a trip to Corellia to see where the family roots are. Meanwhile, a deadly group has risen to take over, trying to re-establish a version of the empire. An attack on a rebel building leaves Leia stranded with many others, athough Han is able to escape. Meanwhile, the Solo children have discovered something strange ... This book is good and I didn't have any real problems with it, but if you can't get into books in the first couple of pages, this one isn't for you.
Rating: Summary: Great Trilogy one of the best! Review: This is a great trilogy. I loved the plot line. The Solo family takes a trip to Corellia, Han's birthplace, but while there the planet erupts into war. The war closes the whole Correllian system into an interdiction field. (An interdictor field prevents all ships to enter hyperspace.) But an interdictor field isn't all. The whole system cannot send any communications because it's being jammed. The Solo family is in the middle of the war trying not to be killed and no friends can come to help them. I like this book also because Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin play a large part. This book also reveals much of Corellia's past which is surprising. Definitely pick this book up today!
Rating: Summary: I liked it!! Review: I liked this book because it has more parts with Jania, Jacen, and Anakin (Leia and Han's kids). The Solo family is going to Corellia (Han's birthworld) and a few things happen. If you buy this book you should buy book 2, too. You will be in a rush to get to the next part.
Rating: Summary: Probably the best Star Wars Series I have ever read. Review: A great book! Awsome plot and character theme. Is a must read for star wars fans. The entire book is action-packed and i deffinately reccomend this trilogy. One thing I really like is that it starts out as like one story and then splits up into four seperate sort of stories that all tie together in the end. The best part is the characters keep switching the groups they are in and each chapter is better than the one before it. Definately a wonderful book!
Rating: Summary: Jump-start To An Amazing Trilogy! Review: This book has to be one of the best StarWars novels I have EVER read. It was about a 3 star at the beginning, but that was neccessary to explain the backround--as with most First Novels in a Series or Trilogy. I don't want to spoil it for you, but I especially liked the way the two Character Groups pulled together unexpectedly near the end. A NEAR FLAWLESS STAR WARS EXTENDER!
Rating: Summary: Somewhat dull, but an interresting story. Review: Well, this book isnn't really bad, but it doesn't excell in any way either. I like the 'excursion to Correllia' idea, but this book can be somewhat dull at times. The picture that it gives of the Correllian system is nice but there just isn't very much action or anything else interresting happening. Facinating enough for a Star Wars fan to read, and perhaps for other sci-fi fans interrested in sci-fi traveling stories since that is what's the true strenght of this trillogy (at least, to me it was). The 'siniter plot' in the Correllian trilogy is not much more than a laugh, apperantly you still need Imperials or some extragalactic threat to get a serious looking problem.
Rating: Summary: Pathetic cash-in, it takes forever for anything to happen Review: Easily the worst trilogy of books I've ever read in terms of frustratingly boring pace, characters that are inaccurate to the movies or just indifferent. It was a struggle to resist the impulse to bin this without finishing it.
Rating: Summary: Good Book Review: I have always wondered about where Han Solo grew up and this book gives me the dirt! Of course, I recommend reading the trilogy as a whole to understand the entire storyline because this is the first in the series... All and all a good introduction for the Correlian Trilogy.
