How about this for a change? A sequel to a highly successful book turns out to be just as exciting and even more intriguing than its predecessor. Well folks, thats Robert Ludlum for you. Only a writer like him can dish out something extraordinary like this. The Bourne Supremacy is a treat for all Jason Bourne fans. Its packed with loads of action, great plot and some interesting new characters. The caption on the back cover says, This time Bourne must reign supreme, and he does in style. I felt the plot of using Bourne this time to track down another Assasin who's supposed to be his clone, was quite well handled and pretty much flawless. Those who missed Carlos in this book, don't worry, he's waiting in the Bourne Ultimatum. All in all, a fantastic book, brilliant read!

I was expecting Carlos to be in it, but it was still quality. I liked most of the characters, but Haviland was an a--hole. It was very hard to put down, the only complaint I had was that the starting was slow and that he kinda went overboard on the whole thing with finding Marie...Never mind. I'll leave that as a suprise. Good action, good characters, cool spy themes, and a good read. If you like Ludlum or read the first one, definatly READ THIS BOOK.

Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Somewhat dated with a false characterization of HK Review: While I found the basic premise intriguing and many of the side characters were interesting, I thought the 2 main characters were rather hysterical: "Oh my darling, how could they have taken you away. I shall go mad!" More disturbing was Ludlum's portrayal of Hong Kong and Chinese people. Given his use of place names like Mongkok and Tuen Mun, it seems like he's been there without actually talking to a Chinese person. Whenever he uses Chinese, he often uses Mandarin or mixes it with Cantonese in an odd hodgepodge (Hong Kong overwhelmingly uses Cantonese). Nevertheless, that's much better than when he attempts to translate. The book is full of 'inscrutable' and/or "obsequious" Orientals (I hate that word) saying things like "dead-dead," "chop-chop," "f-ck-f-ck," or "O Christian Jesus, save me." As a Chinese-American who speaks Cantonese, I can attest that while I've heard some foul language, I never heard anyone in Hong Kong speak as if they walked off the set of a Charlie Chan movie. That being said, if you've already read the Bourne Identity, you're probably going to read this book anyway. Just take it with a grain of salt.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Ehhh... Good Sequel I guess, but I will skip the next one. Review: I loved the first Bourne book and could not wait to start reading the second one. The reason that the first book was so interesting was that the main character did not really know who he was or why people were trying to kill him. The reader and the main character were on a discovery ride together that culminated in an exciting ending. In the second book, there are not any big surprises. The main character has a dark past that he does not want to relive... (Insert big bad government directive here) and he is forced to return to being the person he despises. I found it difficult to really believe that he fought who he was/is as much as he did. The talking to himself in his head was annoying after a while. I would think that this will make a good movie -- but the book was a bit of a let down after the excellence of the first.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Pretty Good Review: I may not be an adult, but I find Robert Ludlum's books facinating....I must say that the Bourne Identity was very good and the trilogy was great all together. It is true, I must confess, that the last two books weren't as great as the first, but they are still interesting and full of suspense.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: good, but not as good as the first one Review: This is the second book of Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne trilogy, and it tears David Webb out of his new-found peaceful life with his wife in a quiet little town in Maine. Again the government needs his help as Jason Bourne or Delta, the man from Medusa and Threadstone 71. Knowing that he will not volunteer his help after all that CIA and State Department have done to him, a story is rigged and his wife is kidnapped. Webb snaps and in the desired effect is on his way to Asia to track a Bourne-impostor who is killing highly-placed officials in Kowloon and Hong Kong. Things run off the wire when Bourne's wife escapes her custody and finds help at the Canadian consulate from an old friend. While the whole story is as action-packed and twisted as the first installment of the Bourne trilogy, it is a little bit harder to get into at the beginning and seems overall a bit more constured. Ludlum is a master of complicated scenarios and he moves about his many locations and characters with ease and skill. He storylines are well-drawn and compelling, but in direct comparison the book is no match to its pre-decessor.

What makes me mad is that I have gone through about three of them because he gets so much good press. I find the writing wooden and he just does not hold my attention. I also did not like the location, I thought it would be interesting but I started to think I was with Jim Jones. Maybe I just have a mental block with him and the movies will be better.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Just as good as the first Review: The Bourne story continues in the action packed Bourne Supremacy. This book is faster moving then the first. It takes place in the Far East. The place of Jason Bourne's past and where the legend of Jason Bourne first originated. David Webb (Jason Bourne) is now a professor at a college and maried to Marie. But Marie is tragically taken away from David and kidnapped into Asia. David knows he must now become Jason Bourne if there is any chance of bringing her back to him. The only way for Jason to get Marie back is to bring her captors an imposter Jason Bourne. A man who killed the Chinese Vice Premier posing as the legendary Jason Bourne. what better way to catch the fake then with the original? I realy enjoyed this book. Jason has now aged from the first book The Bourne Idenity but still has his killer instinct and is in very good shape. The only thing I did not like about the book was Jason's villian. No longer the famous assain Carlos but someone different the imposter Jason Bourne. I thought this was strange as Ludlum never closed out the story with Carlos. Little is added in this book you need to know in order to read the third book The Bourne Ultimatum. But all in all an Excellent book with an Excellent plot. A must read for any Bourne fan!
