Since it is a Caldecott award winning book it makes it that much better. It a good book for any age to read or listen to if you have the Casset or CD. So hope you enjoy as much as I do.
Rating: Summary: Still Makes Me Cry! Review: I have loved this book, both the story and the pictures since the first time I heard it, when I was probably 7 or 8. Classic Christmas Story!
Rating: Summary: THE BEST CHRISTMAS STORY EVER WRITTEN Review: My son recieved this wonderful book as a gift from a family friend several years ago. Now I am going to give a copy to my neice for her birthday. This may be the most wonderful gift you can give to a child, or a child at heart!
Rating: Summary: The best Christmas book ever written Review: The spirit of Christmas is all enclosed in this one childrens book!! Young and old alike will feel the spirit after reading this.
Rating: Summary: For Children and Adults Alike Review: This story will move you aside from how old you are. It reminds everyone of the magic of Christmas that a child holds. The illustrations are only part of the wonderful magic of this book and I fully recomend it to anyone of any age.
Rating: Summary: Amazing story for children and adults Review: I first read this story in December of 1998, it was to my 3 year old - a gift to him from his babysitter. When I finished the book, I was moved to tears; not only of sadness, but amazement. Amazed that a children's book could carry such a powerful message. A child's willingness to dream... to believe in magic... many of us lose this as adults. My son also enjoyed this story, but it's become a favorite of mine. Chris Van Allsburg has captured what most adults seem to lose as they age, yet he has managed to keep it. Highly recommended - for children and adults!
Rating: Summary: This has become a major Christmas classic! Review: This book is the winner of the 1986 Caldecott Medal for best illustrations in a book for children; and it deserved it. The story is about a mysterious night train that takes a young boy on a trip to the North Pole where he receives a special gift from Santa Claus. It has, and will remain, one of the Christmas classics for children. It seems that every child I know has heard this magical and fascinating tale. I highly recommend it to every parent and encourage you to make it a Christmas tradition with your children.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book Ever Written Review: This story about a young boy and his first gift on Christmas isn't just that. This book isn't just a tale of fiction. It's a wonderful, stupendous, truly magical work of art (speaking both metaphorically and literally). I am thirteen years old, and are still crying on the last page of the book. The depiction is real and vivid. You can see the thousands of elves at the North Pole, you can feel the hole in the young boy's pocket, and you can taste the candies and hot chocolate. This really is a book for all who truly believe.
Rating: Summary: lovely light and arctic, urban scenes, dreamlike Review: One of the most imaginative works, like The Snowman, full of dream like images. Life like visages of children. My daughter loves it all year.
