Summary: This book is the best !
Review: I have to say that out of all of the Christmas books I have read this is possibly my favorite. I really enjoy illustrations and the story. I am in my teenage years and I really love this story. Everyone should read this book.

Summary: Van Allsburg is always fantastic
Review: Van Allsburg is one of my favorite storytellers and this charming X-mas tale is no exception. Holiday stories can be a bit preachey and sappy sweet but this one maintains the authours mystery and sophistication. As with all his books, the narritive and illustrations maintain a dreamlike quality that will appeal to all ages.
Not one of my favorite Allsburg stories, I prefer "Just a Dream" and "The Sweetest Fig", but one that will occupy a proud and well deserved space on my bookshelf.
Do yourself a favor and read everything by him, no matter how old you are.

Summary: Believe in the magic forever
Review: I read this book for the first time last year to a group of four year olds I was teaching. I had to choke back the tears. This book brings the spirit of Christmas and the fun of Santa Clause back to your heart. One of those books that just touches your holiday heart and soul and brings you there to the experience this wonderful boy is going through. A MUST for Christmas and should be a family tradition for years to come!!!

Summary: a haunting wonder
Review: In his introduction to his selection of ghost stories, Roald Dahl notes just how hard it is to create a true classic in children's literature. Out of the hundreds to thousands of children's books written every year, maybe one or two (in a good year) retain a large audience. The Polar Express is one of these rare volumes--and deservedly so.

Chris Van Allsburg's holiday classic is full of lovely illustrations. One can feel the chill of a long ago Christmas Eve, the warmth of the inside of the train, the vastness of the Polar landscape. Yet, the real attraction with The Polar Express is its timeless, haunting story. Like the last echoing strains of the sweetest ringing bell, this story will stay with you long after you are done reading.

With all the "stuff" that has come to surround and obscure Christmas--this story, of a boy who finds wonder in the face of surrounding disbelief, is a perfect book to read during the season.

I give it my full recommendation.

Summary: A Christmas Book For All Time!
Review: This was my favorite book when I was little. My aunt would read it to me every Christmas, and when I was old enough, I read it to her. I now get this book almost every year to give to friends and family with small children to start their own tradition. The best version of this book was a gift set that was created for the 10th anniversary. It included a bell that you could hear (read the book to hear what that's all about) and a cassette in a nice box. Sadly, it's not made anymore. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, young and old. The pictures and words are beautiful. It truly is what Christmas is all about.

Summary: The Ability to Believe Again
Review: This is the best christmas book ever written. I could simply stop there and enough would be said.

I discovered this book in 1985 before the world told me that Santa was only for children. I fell in love with the book the first time it was read to me. However, I did not aquire a copy of my own until I was about 16. By this time I no longer believed in Santa and had not read the book in years. I was wandering through my local book store and saw the familiar cover. I instantly smiled and something happened. I bought the book and took it home. I read the book and cried. I remembered Santa. I remembered how to believe.

It has been 5 years since I "discovered" this book again and I read is all the time now; in the summer and winter. I share the magic of The Polar Express with all of my friends. I even give sleigh bells to friends at Chrimstas who I think need a boost in their faith.

I highly recommend this book for all ages.

Summary: The Polar Express
Review: The Polar Express is a wonderful christmas children's book! The little boy in the book is swept away Christmas Eve night to the north pole where santa is by a magical train and he witnesses all of the Christmas wonder. He sees toys being built by santa's elfs and all the goodies being baked by Mrs. Claus. Santa gives the little boy a bell from one of the reindeer's collars so that all of his friends at home would believe him when he told them about his wonderful evening but he loses it on his way home. Christmas morning he opens a small gift that his parents don't know where it came from and he finds the bell that he lost and a note from Santa. This book will make a believer out of your child!

Summary: Wonderful Story of the Miracle of Christmas
Review: This amazingly illustrated Christmas story about a little boy who is anxiously awaiting Santa's visit on Christmas Eve. When he hears a train whistle he runs outside to meet a beautiful train which takes him to the North Pole where he is given the first Christmas present, a bell from Santa's sleigh. Sadly when he returns home he finds that the bell is missing. It had slipped through a hole in his pocket. The disappointed little boy returns to bed. On Christmas morning he opens a small box to find his sleigh bell nestled inside. The parents complement the beautiful bell. But oddly it does not make a sound. Only the little boy really knows the truth that only the people who truly believe in Santa Claus can hear the bells ring.
I love this story. I used to love having this story read to me. With the recent reading of it I remembered just how much I love the story and illustrations. The pictures are amazing, add that to the story and this book completely captures the season of Christmas. The author does a wonderful job with the miracle of Christmas. The author illustrate with word and picture the importance of the miracle of Christmas and how important it is for you to believe in that miracle. As well as all the miracles life has to offer, all it takes is a little bit of faith and imagination.

Summary: The Polar Express Review
Review: This is a book about a Christmas memory. A little boy gets woken up on Christmas Eve by a train's whistle blowing. He finds a train waiting outside his house to take him to the North Pole. When he gets to the North Pole he sees Santa and he finds out that he has been chosen to receive the first Christmas gift. All he wants is one of Santa's bells off his sleigh. He is the happiest boy until on the way home from the North Pole he realizes that there was a hole in his pocket and he has lost his bell. This really makes him upset but he wakes up on Christmas morning to find the bell as one of his presents. The thing is only people that truly believe in Santa Clause can hear the bell when it is rung.
This is a great book. It is beautifully illustrated and it really pulls in the reader. I loved it when I was little and I still love it today. I read it every year around Christmas and love it just as much every time I read it. The pictures really draw the reader in also, and they follow the story greatly. I think through this book, the author was trying to show that you have to have faith sometime. Only the ones that truly believe can hear the bell and I think that goes for a lot of things in life. I think it is a great story for children and adults of all ages.
