Rating: Summary: The Only Review: As most of Wilbur Smith's novels, Burning Shore is located in Africa - this time in Southwestern Africa (now Namibia). The novel is placed in the long link of novels about the South Arfican Courtneys. I normaly feel that Smith's novels are written for guys, but Bruning Shore is the only one I also have recommended to my wife. She loved it - it's a mixture of the adventurous and heroic - the exciting and lovable. READ IT - man or woman.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding storytelling!!! Review: Centaine de Thiry meets Michael Courtney, and then her amazing journey begins. The tragedies she endures develop her strengths and she blooms. Wilbur Smith spins the story of her life without any dull moments. There are quite a few surprises along the way. It's a difficult book to put down and it leaves you longing for the story to continue...which it does, thankfully, in the Power of the Sword.
Rating: Summary: Did I dream that, or did it really happen? Review: How many times have we all asked ourself that? I am a huge collector of Wilbur Smith's novels and have read almost all of them. I am so intertwined in the life of the Courtney's that sometimes I catch myself not being able to realize that I am reading it not living it. I will describe this book like all the others, I can see his words. Everyone should read Wilbur Smith, he is captivating.
Rating: Summary: Wilbur A.Smith Review: I read all of Mr. Smith's books I can find. He is very popular in Europe & Canada & has only in the past 5 yrs or so been in the bookstores here. I would say that 95% of his writings have been top quality reading for adventure, love stories & African history. And that's in each book.

Rating: Summary: Not the best of Wilbur Smith Review: I'm only 18, but i've read River God and The Seventh Scroll, and i absolutely fell in love with them! But the Burning Shore just didn't do it for me... Centaine De Thiry is forced to live through the torchers of lonlinees, hunger, thirst and survival as she finds herself stranded in the namibian desert. She fights not only for her life, but for the life that her dead husband, Michael Courtney, has left inside her womb. You will fall in love with Centaine... But Wilbur Smith decided to give the ending a dull and unhappy twist.
Rating: Summary: another great wilbur smith novel Review: the courtneys of africa is a must read....The only reason I gave this one 3 stars instead of 4 was that it took too long to get into the book. When you put the courtney saga together, it is one of the all time great epics....try to read them in order....
Rating: Summary: Magnificent Weave... Review: This book really demonstrates the prowess of Mr. Wilbur Smith about the political situation of South Africa. He has practically immersed my interest deeply with the way he focuses with its characters as well as the events that are sorrounding them. Really a thumbs up piece of book!
Rating: Summary: A Tale of Survival Review: This continuing Courtney epic runs slightly parallel with A Sparrow Falls, at about the same time period. The main character, Centaine de la Thiry, makes an excellent mother for a Courtney as she is incredibly tough but without being harsh. This is an incredible tale of death and survival under the most savage and primitive conditions; a must read.
