Rating: Summary: JAYNE ANN KRENTZ JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER Review: I'VE READ EVERYTHING KRENTZ HAS DONE AND THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST. STRONG, BELIEVABLE MAIN CHARACTERS WITH JUST THE RIGHT TOUCH OF ECCENTRICS THROWN IN. THE SENSUALITY RATING IS OFF THE CHART. SEXIER THAN SOME OF KRENTZ'S EARLIER WORK. KEEPS YOU TURNING PAGES....CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEQUELS.
Rating: Summary: One of JAK's Best! Review: This a great book and I can't wait for the other two in the series to come out.
Rating: Summary: Classic Krentz Review: I love reading Krentz and all her other incarnations! This book was a classic Krentz with modern relationships and modern mysteries. The only drawback to this book (thus the four stars) was a general lack of humor compared to her other books. Some of them make me laugh out load. While this book did bring on a chuckle. . .a good laugh makes for good reading. I was excited to read that this is the start of a trilogy. . .my favorite!
Rating: Summary: Best JAK in years Review: I did not care for JAK's last couple of hardbacks, but Eclipse Bay has restored my faith in JAK. This paperback is all new-Not a reprint and is the first of a trilogy. The hero, Rafe, is a dashing bad boy type whose career goal at 24 was to 'stay out of jail'. The heroine, Hannah, has career goals planned out years in advance. After years of not seeing each other, the two return to Eclipse Bay to deal with a mutual inheritence. Their families have been fueding for many years, but Rafe and Hannah must deal with the mansion her matchmaking great-aunt left the two of them. I found this story a great deal of fun-JAK is back in her usual witty style and these characters are much more clearly drawn than her last hardback-Rafe, while wonderfully romantic, is distinct in his own way and not the usual conservative type. Hannah is also well drawn and there's a cast of interesting minor characters, too-especially wonderful was Hannah's very proper Schnauzer, Winston. There is an interesting suspense sub-plot, which I enjoyed-I couldn't guess who 'did it'. If you have worried about buying new JAK books-buy this one with confidence. The story and characters are great and so is the price. I look forward to the next two books in the trilogy. It's nice to have the JAK I liked so much back in good form.
Rating: Summary: Eclipse Bay is great Review: This book is the first in a trilogy set in Eclipse Bay, Oregon. It is about family relations in two feuding families--the logical Hartes and the passionate Madisons--with romance and suspense thrown in. I loved the characters of Hannah and her requirements for Mr. Right and Rafe and his youthful goal of staying out of jail. In some ways, I was reminded of Krentz' previous book 'Hidden Talents' (also wonderful and I highly recommend it), especially Blade in Talents and Arizona Snow in Eclipse Bay, plus Rafe's relationship with his grandfather. Eclipse Bay is great all on its own, however, and I can't wait for the next book in the trilogy. I read this book practically in one sitting (on a plane) and I could not put it down. If you haven't read anything else by Krentz yet, get this book and take the plunge. I've also enjoyed all her other books, as well as those she writes under the Jayne Castle and Amanda Quick pseudonymns.
Rating: Summary: puzzled by the high ratings of this book: again steriotype! Review: I have to admit that I am totally puzzled by the high ratings this book has received. Unfortunately the main story line and romance was totally lack of attraction and humour. After years of living their separate lives, Rafe and Hannah return to Eclipse Bay: it is a well-known start. Jayne Ann Krentz is very talented but still using the old fame of hers and repeating herself, perhaps she takes it for granted.
Rating: Summary: The DOG makes the book Review: When you have to say that the dog makes the book--you know that something's not right. If this book had been by an author I had never read before I would have tossed it aside without finishing, and put the author on my "do not read books by this author" list, but it was Krentz and so I kept thinking that the chemistry would come between the characters, they would do something, something would happen that would make the story click. That something never happened. Both Hannah and Rafe just got on my nerves--the only thing that saved the book from a well deserved one star rating was Winston, Hannah's adorbale pooch!
Rating: Summary: Good Girl and Bad Boy meet again.... Review: A fun and easy to follow story. Though I admit I didn't figure out who done it until near the end. This story start out with Hannah and Rafe meeting on a deserted beach after both had dates that went bad. That wouldn't be an issue if their families hadn't been fighting like the "Hatfields and MacCoy's" for years. In the end Hannah admits they had been together when "bad boy" Rafe is acutally questioned in a murder.... The story then picks up 8 years later when they both inherit a house together and have the same basic desires for the future of the house. But, both are headstrong and want "to win" but what is it that Rafe wants to win? Throw in some mystery and a few conspericies and you have a wonderful book. I look forward to the other 3.
Rating: Summary: J.A.K. at her best... Review: Love this writer's style in romantic suspense...hard to top! Don't believe me...run to the closest bookstore for your copy of Eclipse Bay, buy the book, read it, and you too, will quickly become a fan as well!
Rating: Summary: Sit back and enjoy. Review: Another JAK winner. Loved Hannah and Rafe but my favorite character is Winston!
