Summary: Interesting twist of bad/good reputations
Review: If you like the bad boy image. Sorry Rafe isn't for you. I thought he was one of the best male leads I had read in a long time. What made this book for me was the minor character who went by the name of Winston. I thought he was hysterical. This was the first book that I have read by this author. I plan to keep an eye out for more of her work.

Summary: A refreshingly different novel
Review: Hannah Harte returns to Eclipse Bay eight years after saving Rafe Madison from impending imprisonment. She comes back to the small community when Rafe refuses to discuss selling his half of Dreamscape, Isabel Harte's legacy to them both. While they attempt to agree on a business partnership as well as a co-existing personal relationship, they must find out what went on that night eight years ago before the truth threatens to destroy them.

In expressing my opinion of this book to a friend, I couldn't really put my finger on what made this particular Krentz title so great whereas her others have simply been good. It came to my mind however as I recommended it to her. Eclipse Bay is set away from the city and requires, due to a somewhat small community, a different tone, if not style. I enjoyed the atmosphere of Eclipse Bay in terms of location as well. It seemed so refreshing compared to Krentz's Seattle setting. While I enjoy the city, there is something very personal about Eclipse Bay and Krentz illustrates this by taking us through it narratively and describing the origin of certain landmarks. These personal touches brought the place to life for me in a way the impersonal Seattle settings didn't. In addition to that, there is a scene in the novel which involves practically the entire town and comically illustrates the negative side to small town existence. Then there is Winston, Hannah's loyal and protective dog who adds another dimension of humor to the novel.

Krentz has written a story that is fresh in tone though her characters remain true to what her readers have come to associate with her writing. Rafe and Hannah are strongly drawn characters despite the characteristics Krentz uses to associate them with their respective families. And Krentz does a magnificent job of creating a story about Rafe and Hannah instead of falling back, or focusing, on the feud between the Hartes and the Madisons. Eclipse Bay is a terrific start to what I hope will be a great trilogy.

Summary: Another Krentz novel that I couldn't put down
Review: This is another novel from Ms. Krentz that was excellently written. It kept you reading until you were finished. The chemistry between the two main characters was so good and hot. The grandfather was a trip. They way Ms. Krentz introduced the other characters for the two up coming books was well down. A good read.

Summary: okay
Review: I thought that this was a little boring. I never saw how the love could have developed, didn't particularly like Hannah, and found the frequent " a Madison's passion..." and "a Harte does not..." to be irritating. If it were not Ms Krentz, I probably would have given this book a two.

Summary: Liked it, but
Review: This book is definitely better than most of her recent ones. However, she is not back to the witty style we most love in her books. The last one I really, really loved was Wildest Hearts, perhaps her best. From then on, I gradually lost interest until Eclipse Bay, which as I said is not as bad.

Summary: Now THIS is more like it!
Review: Jayne Ann Krentz has a winner with this book. She has returned to the two-part formula that made her popular in the first place: she wrote a nice, light read with good dialog, interesting characters and an engaging plot; and she released it as a paperback.

For the past two years, I've read and bashed everything JAK has written (under all her pen names). I am pleased to recommend this new book and now look forward to the sequels. My advice to JAK -- TAKE YOUR TIME and write another good one.

Summary: A great start for a new trilogy!
Review: The Hartes and the Madisons have been enemies for years. So when good girl Hannah Harte was bad boy Rafe Madison's alibi after his cheating girlfriend is found dead, the small community of Eclipse Bay is shocked. Eight years later, Hannah's aunt wills her beloved Victorian mansion, Dreamscape, equally to Rafe and Hannah. They are both ready to move back to Eclipse Bay, but together? That was unplanned, but not unwanted. When subtle threats endanger Hannah, the couple realize old crimes must be solved before they can move on with a new life.

After the disappointment of WICKED WIDOW (as Amanda Quick), it was a wonderful surprise to read ECLIPSE BAY. The repartee was good, the suspense adequate and the romance delightful. You'll fall in love with Winston.

Summary: This one is more like it!
Review: I had stopped reading Krentz's books because a number of them over the past few years had become fairly shallow, predictable, and not very entertaining. I'm so glad to see this change. ECLIPSE BAY shows better writing and a more believable story peopled with characters that you can empathize with. No stupid dialog. No heroes and heroines so eccentric that the reader can only shake her head in disbelief. No overly-quick bedroom scenes. No paper-thin plot. Just a good story about two feuding families and how their youngest generation shows them how to bury the hatchet, with a little mystery added in. We didn't get to see very much of the heroine's family, so I hope they'll make more of an appearance in the next books of the series. A hearty welcome-back to the old Krentz style that I liked so much!

Summary: Finally!
Review: At last, the Jayne Ann Krentz I remember reading some time ago is back. While the last several books were formulaic in the extreme, in Eclipse Bay Ms. Krentz seems to have put it all back together again and come up with witty dialogue, good interactions between the lead characters, nice build up of tension, and the usual cast of supporting characters who are not at all what you expect. The tried and true works for Krentz, when she can get the characters away from cardboard cut outs. In Eclipse Bay she succeeds remarkably well, and this is a very good read for romantic suspense. I hope the next two books will be as good as this one is!
