Rating: Summary: A Lackluster Tome Review: Alan does frustrate many of his guests on his TV program, as well as the viewers. Alan is consistent, he has done it with this book as well. I do credit Alan with a sense of taste and decorum, sadly lacking in the screams of the Frankens and others. Alan's intentions are good and no one can question his patriotism. However, the book borders on cornish titles and lack of evidence as a basis for his pronouncements. Is it possible that he really believes that Mr. Simpson is innocent, why does this even cloud his writings? I think he should listen to his own words after presenting them, whether in writing or on the show. This book clouds the issues rather than presenting and developing into a cohesive presentation. Alan might well take some lessons from his esteemed partner. He would then find a larger following of Amazon customers. I will try to resell my copy.
Rating: Summary: Needs more liberal stuff Review: I'm a liberal and this ain't liberal. I've always voted Democrat, but I don't think OJ is innocent, dude. I like freedom of speech, religion, press, and freedom to do what I want to in my home without people spying on me like Dick Cheney and John Ashcrap. I like CNN, not Fox. I think FDR was the greatest President, not Clinton. I like to ski, swim, and snorkel. Does that make me a conservative?!!??$!? I don't think so, Alan. I kind of liked how he poked fun of the stupid right wing neocons and stuff, but I wanted more conservative bashing. Another thing, why don't you bash Hannity and his all out lies, dude? Quit Fox and become a real liberal.
Rating: Summary: No Mudslinging (for once) Review: It's nice to see that Alan is finally getting his shot to speak out. (Since he doesn't have much of a chance w/Sean!!) As a conservative, I admire Alan Colmes for being a respectable liberal. He is against mudslinging and name calling, which is a breath of fresh air in today's political climate. While liberals have some good points, so do conservatives, and it's refreshing that Mr. Colmes can admit that there are times when we need to be non-partisan & just deal with the issues. I recommend it to people of all party lines. A great read, we all need to hear what the other side has to say. I think this is a model for future political books.
Rating: Summary: Liberal Literature For The Masses Review: Colmes is a man reviled by many on both sides of the political spectrum. Conservatives loath him for the liberal ideas he espouses on his Fox News nightly show, while the left despises him for not being an absolute ideologue that opposes the conservative establishment at every turn. His book focuses on why liberal ideas are correct and practical, rather than why conservatism is wrong. This remedies an often heard complaint that the left stands for nothing but the downfall of the right. I have a few philosophical disagreements with the esteemed Mr. Colmes, but his facts are appropriatly documented and thought provoking. I urge both liberals and conservatives to approach the book with the highest level of objectivity. The chapter entitled "Jesus Was A Liberal" was particularly intersting. Colmes' methodical style of argumentation comes across much better in print than it does on his television show where it often seems overwhelmed by the fire-and-brimstone, aggressive approach of Sean Hannity.
Rating: Summary: The GOPstapo haven't shutdown freedom of expression yet. Review: Not a bad book. A little tame and a little too generous in its assessements of the right's abhorent behavior over the past decade, when it actually makes any and doesn't simply ignore it. It's reassuring that books like this are still legal to publish despite the current climate of McCarthyism, cancelled TV movies because of GOPstapo pressure and widespread denigration of basic constitutional tenets by the current administration. Doubt that they wil be for much longer at the pace any expression that isn't conservative is being suppressed and harangued, but still a good, solid read.
Rating: Summary: Logical, to the point and no misinformation. Review: The nice thing about this book is that there is no arrogance, name calling or blame game. Colmes just makes his point without any misinformation and distorting the facts.
Rating: Summary: Ohh please! Cons should just stuff it and read the book. Review: How unexpected! 50% 4-5 stars and other 50% 1-2 stars. It's so annoying seeing these cons. giving bad reviews to a book because it's written by a liberal. And the shocking part? Ohh yeah, they haven't even read 2 pages of the book. Maybe perhaps you should go and purchase Ann Coulter's book and see if that crazy lady makes more sense to you. People like O'reilly always only complain about left wing bomb throwers. Like there is a lack of ignorant fanatics on the right out there. Just look at all 1-2 star, 1 sentence reviews of this book. Mr. Colmes is a very intelligent man who doesn't "throw bombs" but rather debates issues. He doesn't go down the road of name calling or forcing anyone to follow his beliefs. And most importantly, he sees both sides of the story. In fact, as a liberal, he will tell you in the book where he thinks conservatives are right. This is an excellent read, and I highly recommend for anyone who has common sense. BTW, to the one reviewer who didn't understand what "How Left Is Right & Right Is Wrong" mean, - you obviously didn't read the book and if you can't understand what he means by that even from the title, you are too young or just stupid. Go play your Nintendo.
Rating: Summary: what a title! Review: Think about the title of this book: "How Left is Right and Right is Wrong" Is he not saying the left is wrong? He's trying to sound clever but it backfires. He is saying how I am right, and right is wrong. Huh?
Rating: Summary: More liberal psycho-babble! Review: The sad thing is, this sick twisted liberal really believes in the crap he writes about.
