Rating: Summary: Fatal Lack of Built-Up Suspense Review: David Wiltse's John Becker thriller, BONE DEEP, tries to be more character-oriented than it really should. As before, Becker makes for one of the most intriguing characters populating suspense novels today, yet the story itself is a dog. Captain Luv is an uninteresting creation, never really eliciting much in the way of danger or dread, so the anticipation of Becker's eventual clash with him dissipates after about 100 pages or so, and all we're left with is wondering how long it'll take Becker to stop the ludicrous 'jealosy' subplot and unmask this dreary killer. Starts off rather well, with good pacing and interesting forensic detail to latch onto, but the narrative veers off course way too many times and the overall product is dense and flabby
Rating: Summary: Bone Deep Review: Having just read Heartland, his latest, I have gone on a Wiltse reading binge, and boy, what a treat. I read Bone Deep in one sitting and wanted much more. I love the way this guy's mind works, funny, devious, dark and serious, and rocket fast. Why are these books out of print?! And where has this author been, why hasn't anyone told me about him until now?
Rating: Summary: John Becker strikes again Review: I have all the novels with John Becker as the main character. They are all very good if not excellent. Why Wiltse does not write anymore? Is he dead? That would be a great loss.

Rating: Summary: suspenseful, entertaining Review: I've read almost all the ' John Becker' books and picked this one up with a bit of trepdation. Happily Wiltse did not dissapoint in this fasinating story. I really like the 'mature' way he handles his subjects. The only drawback was th ending which i found a bit trite. Otherwise i highly recomend this one...
Rating: Summary: A True Nail-Biter! Review: Its been a long time since I read this book but there weren't many reviews on it and I really want people to know what a fantastic read this was. Really, all David Wiltse's books have been page turning ,up till midnight kind of novels! The main character,John Becker, is very fasinating and the alternate characters give witty and fun dialouge...Its a must read!!!
Rating: Summary: Another Great Becker Review: This book takes John Becker and his wife (boss) through many twists and turns. Becker is at his best when confronted with a 'rival' and jealousy puts an even sharper edge on his actions. Fighting a serial killer on his home turf and with Karen in possible danger makes Becker an even greater threat and more exciting character (if possible). You can feel his tension mounting throughout the book as he deals with his friend Tee, Karen, a group of misfits, and his growing anger. An excellent book!

Rating: Summary: Hits to the bone Review: This is a John Becker book taking place in Connecticut, but a part of the state that most readers are probably not familiar with. Becker traces an egomaniacal killer right in his own home town, one who, ultimately, threatens Becker's wife. Becker is an intriquing character, as always; troubled, gifted, smart, sensitive, absolutely ruthless and blood thirsty when the time comes. And the villain, a murderous seducer, is chilling familiar to any woman, a blind date from hell.
Rating: Summary: Predictable and dull. Review: This is my first David Wiltse book, but probably won't be mylast simply because I like the way the man writes. FBI Agent JohnBecker seems like he could be an interesting character (this book hints at a dark past), but in Bone Deep he is given little to do except whine. Captain Luv is an interesting enough character but I knew who he was as soon as Wiltse introduced him, ruining any suspense this book might have had. This makes Bone Deep overlong and boring becuase while the law enforcement officers spend the first 300 pages on the wrong track (Wiltse really wants you to believe it's someone else) the reader is detached because the solution is so obvious. Add to that the fact that every major character is either having an affair or suspecting their partner of having one and you're left with a turgid mess to wade through. There is a reason to read Bone Deep though: David Wiltse knows how to write dialogue. The conversations between Becker and his small town police chief friend are quick witted and true to life.
Rating: Summary: Starts out good... Review: This is the first (and probably NOT the last) David Wiltse book I've read - I'll probaby read some of his other Becker books. This book started out pretty good - kept my interest and moved along quickly. Then, about 50 pages til the end, it just started to get boring. I had the 'villian' guessed halfway thru the book, it was that predictable. But, I liked the Becker character and his FBI-boss Karen. I will most likely read other books by this author.
