Rating: Summary: Decent Review: I am a VWW fan and love her Tamara Hayle mystery series. However, this book is not up to VWW usual standard. It was predictable from page one! There was nothing special about the characters and they all lacked any real depth. I can't wait until VWW moves back into writing her Tamara Hayle mysteries. This particular genre is not her strong suit.
Rating: Summary: Interesting tale, sympathetic characters Review: I purchased this book off of a clearance rack at a local bookstore. It only cost me the price of a movie ticket, and in my opinion, that is about all it was worth. I would have been annoyed if I had paid $15 for a book that I finished so quickly. As I predicted, it was about as entertaining as the average love story that I see at the movie theater, and though enjoyable, nothing to rave about. The writing was clear and to the point, though not especially moving or poetic.
I did appreciate the uncommon interests of her characters -- they were makers of, sellers of, and buyers of African American art. I come from a family of art collectors, though not one as glitzy as those she writes about, and it was nice to see a black author glamourize a world other than sports, drugs, music or the movie industry.
Medora and TW were especially interesting characters to me, because of their art and because of Medora's strength and resolve, despite her relationship with her father. I wanted to know more about them. After reading the descriptions, I really wanted to see her paintings. Initially, I even thought that the story was about Medora. But it wasn't, not really. It was about her ex, and the other women with whom he was involved. Overall, I enjoyed getting to know all the characters. I would read about them again.
Rating: Summary: Don't bother Review: I started this book and it took me about five days to read up to page thirty. I absolutely hated this book. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Rating: Summary: Always True to You Review: I've read everything published that Valerie W. Wesley has written and I truly enjoy her imagination and the way she portrays her fantasies through her pen. All of the other reviews adequately describe the storyline which, I agree, is not drama filled. The story itself was just plain, simple and quite enjoyable. As usual, I started on a Saturday morning and was done by Monday morning. Very quick and light. The most important lessons of what love is really about are the areas the author has chosen to explore in this novel, as well as how our relationship with our parents determine what type of parents we will become. Quite interesting !!! If you're on vacation and looking for a nice pleasant short story, you've got to read this.
Rating: Summary: Love the One You?re With Review: The Cole Porter song, from which this book's title is taken, is the perfect anthem for Randall Hollis. He's a successful, handsome art dealer for whom commitment is impossible and fidelity is reduced to its least common denominator. Because Randall is unable to commit to his long time friend and lover Medora Jackson, she reluctantly ends their 15-year affair. The balm that soothes his wound is simultaneous relationships with two other women. One is Taylor, a younger art graduate student who sees Randall's accomplishments in the art world as a ticket to her own success. The other is Ana, a wealthy, older widow who becomes his client and later his lover. The "Small World Phenomenon" definitely connects their tiny social circle and a collision is inevitable. That very public, humiliating confrontation eventually opens the eyes and minds of Randall and the women who share a part of his life. Ms. Wesley does an excellent job of portraying each character. I was grateful that none of the women were portrayed as vacuous victims and Randall was not a one-dimensional dog. They were all people molded by their experiences which she lays out in great detail. I was even able to sympathize with people I fully intended to dislike, with the exception of Randall's mother who deserves a special "Mommy Dearest" award. I admit to reading this book at first through the prism of the Tamara Hayle series, and although the book is not a whodunit page turner, it became a gentle read that grew on me. NDavis APOOO BookClub

Rating: Summary: Good Read! Review: This book really demonstrates Valerie's creativity. This is a different area of writing for Ms. Wesley, however, I did enjoy her novel. The problems with these characters were typical for people who never learned how to love. Medora was a strong woman and knew what she wanted out of life. Randall never felt love, was never taught how to love so when he had love, he didn't know what he had. Ana had been hurt before, but was willing to give love another chance and thought that Randall was the right man for her, however, Ana was misguided again. All in all, it was a good book with a great storyline. I did enjoy it!
