Summary: fair to middllin' read
Review: A good story line BUT I had trouble with a 17 year old girl from Missouri being such a cold hearted killer. This could have been a better story. Maybe the next installment will be better.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I couldn't put the book down! Outstanding Western!
Review: At first I wasn't too sure about the book, but after the first chapter, I didn't want to stop reading and kept reading on chapter after chapter. What an exciting character Danielle Steele is. I was so excited when I got to the end of the chapter and read that a Part II is coming out in "The Shadow of a Noose" I just hope that it comes out soon. I love Louis L'Amour books, but now I really love reading Ralph Compton books.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great story line. Compton knows how!
Review: been a reader of westerns for over 30 years, including Gray and L'Amour. Just found Compton at an airport in Montana. Read it in 1 day of air travel. Good story line, action, and am already looking for "the shadow of a noose". Now I'll go back and read more of his works. They seem to have a lot of authenticity.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Compton continues to write great books ! !
Review: Compton does it again, in the tradition of the gunfighter series. I couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the next. Ralph Compton is truly in the same class as L'AMOUR

Summary: In My Father's Name
Review: Daniel Strange meets his [end] while riding his chestnut mare on the way to Texas hoping to buy some cattle. He is the best gunsmith in Missouri but his lifeless body is left at the end of a rope, robbing his family of a good husband and father.
... The first of a trilogy, all of them good.

Summary: I have found a new favorite!
Review: I am a die-hard Louis L'Amour fan, but i had run out of books to read so i thought i would try out Ralph Compton. boy, was i surprised how much i loved this book. so much so that i was finished with it the same day i got it, and finished the sequel the next day. i am awaiting the third book in the trilogy eagerly. if you, like me have are looking for good western books try Ralph Compton, and also Jake Ballas. They are both extremely good.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Can't Wait to get the sequel
Review: I found this book very interesting and informative as I am from North Texas and know most of the cities that were mentioned in the book. I also liked the way Mr. Compton put the history footnotes at the bottom of the pages. I can't wait to read the sequel and find out what happens to Danielle. I share most of my books with my Mom and I think she will greatly enjoy this one as well.
