Rating: Summary: 5 minutes of wisdom spread over a 2 hour tape Review: I too have read "Working on Yourself Doesn't Work," and found the book to be insightful and enjoyable. As a result was interested in the authors' audio tape seminar on Relationships, as that seems to be my life-long struggle. Unfortunately the format of this tape - a rambling discussion with an audience with no apparent planned outline - left me a bit frustrated. MY questions aren't answered, and frankly, I found most of the audience questions to be rather dull and plodding. They start out saying they will talk about Relationships - how to get 'em, how to have 'em, how to keep 'em. They really don't cover that. The ONLY advice about how to "get" a relationship is just "go out there and have fun because people like to be around people who are having fun." Good advice. But - that's it!? The main theme of the tape is that you need to relax and stop "working on yourself," stop going to workshops, retreats and seminars because "you are perfect exactly as you are" - but then someone in the audience asks a question, saying what they think, and Shya Kane tells him, "here's what's wrong with your question." So, I'm confused. Are we perfect as we are, or are we thinking wrong, asking the wrong questions? My recommendation would be to take the authors' advice - stop working on yourself - and start stopping now, by not investing in this tape. It's only about 5 minutes worth of insight, already covered in their book, for an extra ($) and 2 hours of your time. Not worth it.

Rating: Summary: A treasure chest of truth. Review: One of the reviews of "Working on Yourself Doesn't Work" by Ariel and Shya Kane pointed me to an audio tape by the Kanes called "Magical Relationships." What a treat! After meeting the authors through their book, I got to actually hear them talking with people in a seminar. They are brilliant with people, really listening to each question and comment that arises from the audience and giving everything they've got with their responses. Listening to the tape was like spending time with two compassionate friends (and their guests!) who have discovered magic in their lives. I felt very close to one of the participants who talked about how embarrassing it can be to feel her partner's love for her. It's a great section, but I won't give any more away. You don't have to dream about having an awesome life. Get the book, get the tape, and celebrate - the Kanes are a gift!

Rating: Summary: Listen, learn, love. Review: The tape "Magical Relationships" was inadvertently found on my bookcase. My wife had purchased it when we were not seeing eye to eye on a few issues. Listening to the tape became one of those issues. A few weeks ago, while fumbling around the living room, I found the tape. I played it thinking I would hear all the old relationship clichés newly packaged. Much to my delight, what I heard was an extraordinary dialogue between people. The Kane's were leading the discussion, providing the audience with new perspectives on all relationships- with yourself, your family, your lover and your life. The audience was providing personal insights and experiences which helped illustrate these new perspectives adding to the Kane's clarity on the topic. I recommend buying and listening to "Magical Relationships", it will change the way you look at your life and relationship.
