Summary: Subtle, Elusive, Provocative!
Review: Lecture of Idries Shah given before a live audience about Sufism and the human condition. Must be listened to numerous times before its undeniable educational benefits and informational value penetrates our attenuated awareness. Hard work yet fully rewarding. Idries Shah, as usual, is dedicated to educating and uplifting us, demands efforts and time, on our part, to comprehend and digest his presentations. And justly so! 'There is no easier ride on this'. Shah illustrates this point at the end of the lecture with the anecdote about a man who travel in a slow train which had stopped, for the hundredth time, at a wayside station. The man jumps out of his carriage, runs up to the driver and roar at him:'Can't you go any faster?!' 'Yes, Sir, I can certainly go faster - but, unfortunately, I am not allowed to leave the train'. And Shah, too, is not allowed to leave the train. The 2nd cassette contains readings of a selection of "teaching stories" and naratives from two of Shah's books. Again, repeated listening will yield a "bountiful harvest".
