Rating: Summary: Infinitly appealing and enthrawling Review: this guy must have been on something harsh when he wrote this. I mean what kind of freak writes a book about a discworld which travels through space on the back of four giant elephants which travel on the back of a turtle? Apart from that it's great. 's adopted daughter falls in love with s apprentice, Mort, who trys to alter the future and in doing so nearly rips apart the whole Fabric of Causality. also goes into retirement, and Mort becomes , a terrible human , a mortal become Immortal.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant! Review: I'm fairly new to the whole Terry Pratchett experience, having only been familiar with him for the past two years. I have read many of his books, and I must say that this is his best out of those I have read. This is one of those books that you have to read more than once to catch everything. I generally don't even read fantasy books, but I also wouldn't classify Pratchett under fantasy. I would classify him under the humor, wit, fantasy, adventure section, if there was one. You will not be disappointed with this book.
Rating: Summary: Pratchett's best book Review: I read this and was absolutely encapsulated. This is wonderful stuff. Pratchett combines humour with deadly seriousness, reality with fantasy, and creates a wholly convincing new world, with frighteningly real characters that we can all relate to. If you buy one book in the rest of your lif, makeit this one.
Rating: Summary: Every so often, even *Pratchett* takes it up a notch... Review: We all know that there is no funnier writer that Pratchett. But fewer of us know that Pratchett, every now and then, stops and steps outside the realm of the simply funny, and enters the realm of what is magical. Now, not all of us are receptive works derived from the latter area of... L-space, i suppose, but, with Mort, Pratchett definitely appealed to a part of me beyond my gigglebox. Mort, while not as abundant in wisdom as say, Small Gods, is simply put a very enchanting and enticing tale about one very unique youth's early job experience, and his very comical romantic pursuits. Moreover, I've always felt that when Pratchett put forth his thoughts on a subject, my own view of that subject got just a -bit- richer, and Mort definitely seems to revolve moreso around romance than any of the other Discworld Novels, and I can honestly say that, since reading it, my love life has never been better. So, once again, thank you, Terry... Thank you very, very much.
Rating: Summary: Pratchet's second best star: DEATH Review: Yeah, apart from Rincewind (who makes a brief guest star appearance in "Mort"), Death is the most hilarious character out from Pratchett's factory. The only flaw to the book is that lack of attention that makes some jokes appear redundantly many times, even in the same book.
Rating: Summary: Hm... I DO wonder why the others did NOT review the play... Review: This is a good adaption of a great book. When reading it, one has to keep in mind, that it is just that: an adaption and not an original work. You should NOT (under no circumstances!!!) read this instead of reading the novel. As with all the other adaptions of Pratchett's books, it is very true to the spirit of the novel and the discworld. Of course one might have different views what should be included in the play and what can be left out, but this is a good start... So, buy it, stage it and enjoy it...Yours, Tom
Rating: Summary: Absolutely outstanding!! Review: No matter what the circumstances in my life, I have always known that for a good laugh, I need only reach for a Terry Pratchett novel. MORT, has been no exception to that rule. Pratchett can simply not get any more hilarious!
Rating: Summary: A Sunny Day In The Land Of Black Review: Can there be another genius on this planet that is half as funny, witty or as enjoyable to read than Terry? The answer is obviously NO! Death has always been the most colourful character since The Colour Of Magic. He defines what life is all about, and this book shows that life is for living, even if you're dead. One day there will be a Discworld film and that could ruin the mystery surrounding Death-the funniest man not on this planet. Did Mr.Pratchett mould Death in his image?
Rating: Summary: A WITTY COMEDY Review: MORT IS A WITTY AND FUNNY NOVEL BY A GOOD AUTHOR ME AND MY FREIND CALVIN HUSSEY RECOMEND IT.
Rating: Summary: Death needs an apprentice. Review: THE Definitive Terry Pratchett book. Absolutely hysterical and brilliant. Some his the most comical and insightful writing.
