Rating: Summary: a down comforter in the bed of life Review: tryin to sleep in the bed you made is a must read for the anyone
that doesn't quite understand the phrase "you reap what you sow".
for a entry effort the collaboration of these two women turned out
a very comfortable read.the story was weaved like 200 thread count percale.
I was impressed as to how the writers were able to sustain the flow of each of their characters lives, yet let them show as individuals as well. Tryin to sleep was strength in the characters as well as the two writers. I look forward to the next collaborative
effort.
Rating: Summary: A Woman's Best Friend Review: This was a wonderful book. Women of a particular cultural mileau, but universal truths about friendship. Picturesque language with spice, style and warmth. Do not miss this boo
Rating: Summary: Tryin to Sleep in the Bed you Made Review: Trying was a great book, it held my interest throughout the entire book. Just by reading the begining of the book I knew it was going to be a good. I enjoyed all the characters, even Ramsey. I would recommend this as a must read boo
Rating: Summary: A can't put down, but hate to see it end book. Review: I really enjoyed this story about two African American women friends. Their story was funny, heartwrenching, and real. DeBerry and Grant write with such warmth and humor, I felt like Pat and Gayle were my friends. I highly recommend it
Rating: Summary: Friendship and sisterhood combine to make this a great read! Review: I became very caught up in the lives of these two women. As the book came to a close, I found myself almost missing these two dear "friends". Each character is very believable and regardless of race, their journeys through life encounter those same hurdles all women face - the struggle to be her own person. I enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it to others.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Book about Friendship Review: This was a really great book to read. These two ladies did a wonderful job telling this story. It has been a while since I have had some free time to read a good book. I use to be a bookworm. I am really glad that the first book that I picked up to read was this one. The characters in this book seemed so real. If you have ever had a "real" friendship with someone than you know that sometimes a true friendship may go through some good times and some bad times but true friendship stands the test of time. The characters in this book went through a lot in their lives. I got sucked up into the world. Cheering for them as well as being diappointed when things went wrong. I think that if people really took the time to get to know one another and develop real friendships the world would be a better place for sure. Mrs Grant and Mrs Deberry- great job-excellent book!!
Rating: Summary: Too Good TO Miss!!!! Review: I Simply LOVED THIS NOVEL. My Favorite book of all time. The first time I read this novel I was transfixed for weeks after it's completion. I found myself appriciating frindships to a greater degree, so much so I immediately went and purchased a copy for all my best friends. I also currently use it to give book talks to my students. The characters are so well developed that you automatically feel as though you not only know them, but could actually be them. Pat is my she-ro. Although her external successes may seem unrealistic, her internal struggles are true to life. The story is developed over 2 decades, but I found myself wishing and desiring to follow them throughout their lives. You know a book is great when years after reading it for the first time, you can pick it up and not just read the memorable parts, but actually get excited about re-reading it from cover to cover. If only there was a sequel!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: A good read, yeah. Review: But not a great book. While the writing is far, far, far better than many books of this genre, the characters and, ultimately story, just aren't believable. They're close, but the hesitation in both of them just isn't realistic at all. And things wind up just a bit too pat. Every loose endm and I mean every one, is tied up. As I said, a good read, but that's about it.
Rating: Summary: An awesome story of friendship and life Review: Please read this! It was a fantastic story of the ups and downs of life and friendships. The authors write beautifully.
Rating: Summary: The Power of Friendship Review: When I first started to read this book. I thought it would be intresting but on the boring side. Once I got further into the book it was impossible to put down! At my school we have SSR [silent substained reading] wich is only 15-20 minutes depending on the teacher[im in the 10th grade *hehe*] When it was time for it to be over i begged my teacher and got others to agree to extend it. We ended up reading for an hour!
What i like most about this book is the message i got from it. Gayle: Don't live just on dreams because they leave you nowhere.
Patricia: Work for what you want and don't dwell on those who doubt you, because the one's who doubt will enventually end up beneathe you in any form.
