Summary: Cloud Nine
Review: It is a superb novel. Like everyone else, the only time I put it down was to grab the whole box of kleenex. You definately need them. Luanne Rice painted a super portrait of life, love, tragedy and heartbreak. It is a permanent addition to my collection.

Summary: A Sure Fire Winner!
Review: Cloud Nine was by far one of the most touching stories I have read in years! It was modern and it touched on all the issues that families deal with everyday. The pain and anger of loss, the finding of new love, and renewal of the spirit.

From the first page to the last Cloud Nine is everything you could possibly want in a book. Not only do you not want to put it down; you want to be part of the story. It touches your heart and soul.

Summary: Definitely not a keeper!
Review: When Rice's "Angels All Over Town" first came out, I rejoiced. Here was a smart, funny, quirky writer who could skillfully blend elements of romantic comedy, melodrama and, yes, even a ghost story.

Where did that Luanne Rice go? "Crazy in Love" retained that sense of quirkiness, but it's been downhill ever since. Her books are growing less sophisticated and more obviously designed for the mass-market romance crowd. She's capable of more. I've bought every one of her books in hardover, praying for that sense of oddball magic, but with this mess, my loyalty has finally reached an end.

Oh... the two stars are for the portrayal of the teen girl, who manages to struggle out from beneath the syrup to engage the reader's attention just long enough to finish the book. As for the rest of it... bleah.

Summary: Cloud Nine
Review: What emotion! I could not put it down, except to grab a kleenex to blow my nose and wipe my eyes. A friend gave me the book and told me to read it, she read it twice. She was right. I will give it to another friend. Must read.

Summary: What was the point?
Review: Do not read this review if you don't want to know the ending! I liked the characters, I liked the island in Maine, I loved the plot setup. Tell me. What was the point in the heroine dying? I am a two time cancer survivor.I was thrilled to read a story about a survivior with funky Annie Lennox-like hair, who has a second chance. I know people die, but what was the point in having the heroine die in this fictional book? She had her son back, she made peace with her father, made a difference in a young girl's life, and found true love for the first time. I'd devoted hours enjoying this book and the end still has me shaking. It's my worst nightmare of dying from cancer while still young. What was the point in killing Sarah off?

Summary: a heartrending love story
Review: my friend recommended this book to me and when i turned the last page i called her sobbing asking her "why did you do this to me"? oh, what a story for people who believe in the power of love and family, of people who cannot say what they mean but feel very deeply. a must read.

Summary: New Admirer of Ms. Rice
Review: This is the first book I've read by Luanne Rice, but it won't be the last. I'm now online to find others by her. This was an impulse buy, after reading the story description on the back of the book. This book truly shows you the meaning of "love" and how precious it is, especially with our children. Anyone wanting to find a "feel good" book should read this, but have your kleenex box handy.

Summary: cloud nine
Review: Trapped on an airplane with this book, I had to drag out a pen and write in the margins to keep still. Words like, "hackneyed, trite, and insipid" kept appearing. Call me an English major, but if this is what's leading the market today we're in trouble.

Summary: boo-hoo-hoo
Review: I loved this book. I cried like a baby at the end but what a great love story.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Sensitive Story about life and death
Review: I enjoy good romance stories. This is an excellent one about a woman who has reconciliation to do with her family. She encounters a man, who has had his share of pain and his daughter (who hopefully we will see in another book by Luanne Rice). It is true that the poignancy of the story can bring out the kleenex, but the writing was superlative, describing a thanksgiving scene that made you appreciate your family more than ever. This is a thinking persons romance. It was tough at the end. But i enjoyed every word.
