Rating: Summary: Wonderful, feel-good story! Review: Wonderful love story! The characters are lovable and real and the story is entertaining and warm. The kind of book that makes you think about the characters after you have finished the book and leaves the reader with a satisfied feeling. This was my first by Rice but not the last!
Rating: Summary: What a Great Book Review: This is a story of today, about a woman with a second chance who takes nothing for granted. Sarah Talbot has suffered immensely with a life altering surgery. Her son Mike, unable to tolerate the illness, leaves her to fight her battle alone. He goes to Maine to live with his grandfather - Sarah's father - and her Aunt Bess on the family homestead. A chance meeting with a pilot and his daughter enriches Sarah's life more than she feels she is deserving of. Susan and Will have secrets and problems of their own. A death of a beloved son/brother; the divorce and remarriage of Susan's mother to Julian, are but a few obstacles they have to face as a team. This is a story about coming to grips with what life throws at you. Sharing your thoughts and feelings, opening yourself up to additional hurt, in an effort to find the human touch that we all need and desire. If I have learned something from Ms. Rice's story, it is that no life is ordinary - we each have the opportunity to touch someone deeply and we should strive to do just that in our lives. This is a moving and emotional story, I for one am looking forward to reading more of Luanne Rice's books.
Rating: Summary: Keep the Kleenex Handy Review: How can you get so involved with letters on a page? Well, believe me ---You will---LuAnne Rice has a knack of grabbing you heart and soul in her writing style. This book is a tear jerker. But who dosen't love a good cry? (especially when it's over fiction.) I can't wait until my next Luanne Rice book.
Rating: Summary: The first book that has made me cry in a long time Review: This is the first book that I have read by Ms Rice. I plan on reading more....I was drawn to this book as I love Maine where the book takes place. It deals with much emotion from the beginning and never lets go right up to the end. I wanted to spend a lazy weekend reading after a busy summer and this was a great choice.
Rating: Summary: Very, very good reading Review: Romances aren't really my favorite type of book but this is exceptionally good because it's very believable and very real. This story isn't dripping with unrealistic doting devotion. This story is so "real life".The characters are so easy to identify with as well as the jobs they have and the businesses they own. Life and love aren't always fair or easy to deal with, and this book touches on all of those things as well as the wonderful way the author describes the landscape and surroundings. I enjoyed this book a lot. Buy or borrow this book, you'll devour it and feel like you actually know these characters.
Rating: Summary: Have Kleenexs ready! Review: This is such a sweet book! I could relate to all of the characters and fell in love with them. What a well crafted story! It is great reading in bed with the box of tissues within reach!
Rating: Summary: Stunning...timeless Review: Words seem cheap when a novel touches the human heart as did "Cloud Nine." It plucked at every emotion, my heart begging for a different ending, but my soul knowing it had the perfect ending. Thank you, Ms. Rice. This one will never leave my shelf.
Rating: Summary: hope for us all Review: For anyone who has lost hope for the future, this is an excellent read. It makes us think of what we each have to be grateful for in this life and to live everyday to its fullest even when we think it is not worth going on. Bravo, Luanne Rice!
Rating: Summary: Not what I expected! Review: This is the first book I've read by Luanne Rice, but I will try her again. At time the book is slow, but I kept reading and was quite surprised!
Rating: Summary: Better than my first Luanne read! Review: I'm not sure I know what it was about this book, but after reading "Follow the Stars Home", I bought this book. I actually liked this one better. I've been trying to lay a finger on it, and I think that maybe it's because I used to be a nurse and witnessed first hand how cancer changes people's lives and the focus of their existance. I also loved the fact that Sarah does not have the best relationship with her father. As I have life experience in that department, it's nice to know that not every novel out there is going to behave like I'm a minority in this respect. Grab your tissues and/or wear long sleeves; you'll need both to wipe your eyes and nose!
