Rating: Summary: One of my favorite authors does it again! Review: As an avid reader and almost always a lover of Luanne Rice's books, I never thought I would ever find another title by this author which I enjoyed as much as Blue Moon or Home Fires. Now after reading Cloud Nine I am happy to say I have have another Rice title to add to those I loved the most. Despite that parts of this book were fairly predictable, I found myself moved by both the story of the main characters and their joining together as they race against time. I also found the plot had many of Rice's signature themes such as the love of a mother for her child and parent, the love of a man for a woman and a budding romance between two young people. If critics feel that Rice's books are too sad and sappy at times, I say while this may be true at times, nobody does these emotions better. Now I can hardly wait to read her latest book, The Secret Hour, inwardly hoping that once again I have another title to add to my best loved books by Luanne Rice.
Rating: Summary: Power of love Review: This book really is a story about the power of love and healing. It has all of the elements for a great story: family, love, healing, growing, learning, forgiving...Anything by Luanne Rice is a wonderful read. If you haven't read her yet- do!
Rating: Summary: Bring Out Your Hankies! Review: While generally well written, it is just too sad! No opportunity to wring the emotions is omitted. Be sure to have someone you love or a box of chocolate nearby, you'll need it.
Rating: Summary: A heartwarming story Review: Cloud Nine is a must read for romance lovers. I recently discovered Luann Rice and her books and this one did not disappoint. I felt so much a part of the characters that I rejoiced with them and cried with them. A great read indeed.
Rating: Summary: Yikes Review: Maybe it's the voice used by the actress on the audio, or maybe it's the prose itself, but I felt like this was an overdramatic telling of a good, basic, universal story of newfound love and loss. Supporting character Susan/Snow seemed particularly cliched and immature, and therefore irritating. I wouldn't recommend this.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: I am a very big fan of Luanne Rice and after just finishing Cloud Nine I feel I must share how great it was. It wasn't like most love stories..this was emotional and intreguing I could hardly put it down. I would recommend this book to women because it is such a powerful story and to men to show how women love to be taken care of.
Rating: Summary: If you love Luanne Rice, you`ll love K.C. McKinnon, too! Review: I just finished reading "Cloud 9" and will read her other books, too. But did nobody realize that Luanne Rice writes in the same style that K.C. McKinnon(alias Cathie Pelletier) does? Read "Dance in the Harvest Moon" and "Candles at Bay Street"(this one is very similar to "Cloud 9")and I bet you`ll agree to me and love K.C. McKinnon books as much as Luanne Rice books in the end. I read the two K.C. McKinnon books over and over again, sad that she didn`t write new ones. Now I discovered Luanne Rice and for me it is as if K.C. McKinnon got revived(wonder why she ever stopped writing).
Rating: Summary: Tearful Story Review: I thought this book was such a sweet love story, it was amazing. To find a love like Will and Sarah found, the book sweaps you into dreams of finding love so passionate and tender. I hated Susan's mother throughout the book, and hated Julian even more. I wanted to KILL them when they gave away the kitten! At the end, when they "changed" I even still felt annoyed at them. However, this book was increadible. It only got 4 stars because it was easy to figure out from start to finish, (I like when unexpected things happen) and a very depressing. However, it was meant to be this way, a emotional journey, so I knew what I was getting into when reading it. Get the tissues ready with this one!
Rating: Summary: Utterly captivating from start to finish! Review: This book was truly amazing! Not only did I SOB at the end but I started crying again when I was just telling someone about it! It has been a long time since a book touched me so deeply. The author makes you feel like you are with the characters through all of the trials and tribulations they encounter. It is a wonderfully written story of life and love that I will not soon forget!
Rating: Summary: A Very Moving and Absorbing Story Review: This is actually two stories - one about a teenage girl Susan, who lost her brother in a tragic boating accident and has had to learn to cope with the way it changed the lives of her parents and how it affected her own life. Her father, Will, is a pilot who blames himself for his son's death and has not put it behind him. It is also about Sarah Talbot, a woman who has had a bad scare with cancer. When she gets a reprieve from the illness, she opens a linen boutique called "Cloud 9" where she sells bedding and down quilts made by her Aunt. Sarah hires Susan's father, Will, the pilot, to fly her home for Thanksgiving to try to rectify her relationship with her only son, Mike, a teenager who has dropped out of school, and is living with his grandfather on the farm. Sarah also needs to re-establish her relationship with her own father, who lost his wife to cancer several years before and never gotten over it. The story of these 2 families dealing with inner conflicts and with what life has handed them is very emotional, and touching. The descriptive scenery of the area, the Atlantic ocean and the northern lights (aurora borealis) enthralls you and if you haven't seen it, definitely makes you feel left out. Luanne Rice does a superb job of conveying her characters and you will find yourself thinking about them long after you finish the book. I love her writing, and this book is a treat -one of her best. I'm looking forward to her newest "Safe Harbor" coming out this month.
