Rating: Summary: Good for those with below average intelligence Review: I purchase books based on the brief story description provided to give me an idea about the book. I don't buy books depicting explicit sext. This book, though not graphic, dwelled on sex. The book started out with an interesting title and theme and the writer could have done a lot with the story but the writer kept getting side tracked by his constant backtracking in order to portray his fantasy sex starved woman.....it made the story stupid. I couldn't finish it and would get a refund if I could. If you have a below average intelligence you will probably like this book. Next time a book is reviewed, please review it correctly so I can avoid wasting my money on this tripe.
Rating: Summary: One of my top three of the thirty-nine read so far.... Review: I read somewhere recently that Fr. Greeley has written 43 novels. I believe it is closer to 53 if the truth be told. I myself have read 39 of them so far and this is one of my all time favorites. It is a wonderfully accessible story about the grace of forgiveness and of trying to do better every day, whether other people respond favorably to you or not. I could not recommend this book highly enough.
Rating: Summary: Angels With Senses of Humor Review: I've always suspected angels have senses of humor, and while this book will never win any thological awards, it's redemption with a laugh. It's a thoroughly entertaining read for an evening when there's nothing on the tube or a day at the beach. Don't expect anything profound or surprising and you will probably throroughly enjoy this book. It was fun.

Rating: Summary: One of his very best!! Review: In his charming and witty Irish style, he brought a different type of story with a surprising ending! It touches the heart and the conscience, and makes one question their own life and experiences; and let's us know that is never too late! Glorious!
Rating: Summary: Excellent, must read, wonderfully enlightening. Review: It was a wonderful book that for anyone who questions their faith or fears death should read. It puts it all in a way that is very easy to read and take. I absolutely loved the book and want to get a copy for everyone I know.
Rating: Summary: One of his finest! Review: My library consists of all of Father Greeley's fiction. I have loved every story and have found that generally all have happy endings. As I read CONTRACT WITH AN ANGEL I was saddened with the thought that the main character was going to die. I was in tears beginning in Chapter 29 when Raymond Anthony Neenan was dying. But, what a beautiful ending! The book has many lessons concerning personal relationships with God, family, and fellow workers, as well as getting in touched with one's self. This is one of his BEST! As usual there is a good mixture of human emotions. Thank you, Father Greeley, so many hours of pleasure reading. Keep the books coming!
Rating: Summary: A good read and fairly thought provoking. Review: Our hero is Mr. Raymond Anthony Neenan, CEO and President of a large media corporation and multi gazillionaire, who finds himself sitting on an airplane next to a big black man with an earring in his ear who claims to be what we earthlings call "an angel", though prefers to be called a "seraph". At first Mr. Neenan thinks the guy is a nut, and then he thinks perhaps he had too much vodka. When the plane is sent hurtling towards earth, luggage flying everywhere, nose diving into a certain crash, and then righted again, with everyone else on board unaware of what has just happened, Mr. Neenan believes. He is told he does not have long to live, and should sign this contract to save his immortal soul. He signs. What follows is humor, good fun, some sadness, and a lot of emotional turmoil for our hero. He now must right all of the wrongs he has done in his life, and he has only a short time in which to do so. As the story progresses, it becomes somewhat of a reach, but hanging in there is worth it. I did not like the ending at all, but of course cannot give that away. Instead, I recommend you read it for yourself and decide. All in all, I was happy with this book, found it very well written and an extremely easy read, and enjoyed almost every page.

Rating: Summary: Rebirth of a good guy--the Faust legend in reverse. Review: Take the title literally--this is about a real angel and a real contract. Hard-driving businessman R. A. Neenan is on a plane flight when he is confronted by the seraph Michael in the form of a huge, athletic black man. Neenan is informed that he does not have much longer to live, and he must try to make up for the wrongs that he has done to others. When the plane goes into a dive and almost crashes, he is convinced and signs the contract.Neenan has a big job ahead of him. He has alienated a lot of people, including his bitter parents, his frigid and shrewish first wife (just like his mother), his actress daughter (who has been brought up on her mother's vicious tirades), a homosexual son, and, to a lesser extent, the other son, who is now working as an overshadowed junior executive in Neenan's company. Then there are a number of women whom he has conquered and discarded. First, however, is his supersexy but neglected second wife, Anna Maria Allegro. This is the fun part--if you are unfamiliar with Greeley's novels, you'll be amazed at how much sex a celibate Catholic priest can inject into his writings. (Even angel Michael has a gorgeous "companion," Gaby. (Did you know that Gabriel is a female angel? And that angelic sexual encounters last for days?) To the bewilderment of his associates, Neenan lives up to the terms of his contract. He doesn't always succeed, but he controls his wayward impulses and tries his best. He discovers that it is much more fun to be a good guy, especially in his relations (both in and out of bed) with his wife. But that fatal deadline is still hanging over him. The ending may be predictable, but who cares? No one would want the story to end differently. It is difficult to tell just how much of Greeley's depiction of the divine is to be taken as his honest belief and how much is just pure twinkle-in-the-eye whimsy. Some of it is almost irreverent. (How about the Virgin Mary as a saucy Palestinian teenager who makes the best chocolate chip cookies ever created?) But if I had my druthers, I'd take Greeley's theology over anyone else's. The book is great fun to read. Greeley is certainly an entertaining story teller, with the best kind of Irish-Catholic wit. Ah, I love this genial priest who packs so much love of life into his novels!
