Summary: Contract with an Angel
Review: Contract with an Angel was such a great book. In reality this is not typically the kind of book I read. However, I found this book to be just magnificent. Here's a small summary of what this book is about. This novels main Character is Mr. Raymond Neeman who's a successful businessman. Without much choice, he is forced to sing a contract with the Arch Angel Michael, who just happens to have the same phycisal features as Michael Jordan. Mr. Neeman is given a chance to redeem his soul by trying to undo all the pain he has caused his loved ones, friends and business associates. Threrefore, Mr. Neeman signs a contract where he promises to follow all of Michael's instructions to the best of his abilities. As Mr. Neeman starts to make amends for his past mistakes, one's so touched that one feels the urge to do the same. By the end of the book one is cheering for Mr. Neeman, then disaster strikes. Mr. Neeman is fatally shot. However, when he enters heaven, God tells him that it's not his time. Consequently, he is sent back home to be with his loved ones. After one is done reading this book, one's belief that its never to late to make amends for one's mistakes is reinforced. In addition, one's belief that God is a forgiving person, and is always looking after us with the help of his angels is also extremely comforting to one's soul.

Summary: This book is awesome!
Review: Contract with an Angel was such an awesome book. Actually its the first Greeley book I ever read (after this book I had to read more of his, of course). I really liked how the angels didn't go out of their way to show their (near) perfection. They were modern angels for a modern day world and they acted like normal people (only better of course). If a movie was made I think that Cuba Gooding Jr. would make a good Michael.

Summary: Another offering in the wonderful angel series.
Review: Fr. Greeley again allows us to explore with him the marvelous interaction between the spirit (in struggle against its human constraints), God (as expressed through his angels), and the world in which these powerful forces act out life's play. The overall positive inflection of this story is tempered by the very real reflection of Man's virtures and vanities in a life and death struggle. I highly recommend this book for all those who not only enjoy a good tale well told, but who may find themselves reflecting on their own struggles.

Summary: Excellent!! A must-read for anyone looking for hope.
Review: Fr. Greeley has outdone himself with "Contract With An Angel." This book is a remarkable blend of topical issues and the all-encompassing joyful love God has for Her creations. Greeleys previous books, of which "The God Game" was my favorite, need to be read as well, to completely experience the utter joy Greeley offers his readers. The story in 'Contract' is an age-old one, finding joy in a life filled with everyday tragedies, yet it also is a story of boundless hope and enthusiasm, both from God toward us, and from us to God. This book is a must-have for Greeley fans, and a must-check-out for those who haven't experienced his genius. He is undoubtedly, one of the most gifted, endearing writers of our time, and quite possibly, of all time. Bravo Fr. Greeley, it is my dearest wish that you grace us with many more books.

Summary: Best of Greeley's angel series
Review: Greeley is very much like a bag of potato chips. You can't stop with one. Greeley's stories are addictive, even if the quality varies sometimes. "Contract with an Angel" is the most recent in his "Angel" series. This story is a take on Faust, while the last story in this series was a take on the Book of Tobit from Scriptures. The angel series is fantasy with angels and saints popping in and out of the story. There is even a cameo by Herself. It is lighter that his Bishop Ryan or Maggie Ward series. However, his inspired understanding of human nature and relations between the sexes comes through well. I like his angel series and recommend this installment as the best of the series to date.

Well deserved praise given, I must add that I found the main character going through a change of heart with amazing speed. He turned from a ruthless, selfseeking tyrant into a very human and likeable guy in the first chapter of the book. The rest of the! book deals with other people trying to catch up with his instant change of heart. A little more struggle on his part to change life long attitudes may have made for a more realistic story. However, it is a work of fantasy and fun none-the-less.

Summary: God cuts new deal with rich, tells poor and meek to get lost
Review: I have enjoyed Fr. Greeley's nonfiction works over the years so I decided to try one of his fiction works. It appears he has become an evangelist for the new American religion where the rich deserve a better god than the average schmuck. He includes a whole array of religious icons to give it a patina of respectability. Mary, mother of Jesus, gets to play a cameo role as Mrs. Fields, while her son is left out of the story since he had this bad habit of associating with the poor and other riff-raff. Perhaps her son is sent to unsuccessful Amway salesmen. The angels (Michael and Gabriel) primary function is to serve as wine and music coordinators, serving wines from the celestial vineyards for discriminating palates to the accompaniement of the heavenly hosts. No Wild Irish Rose here. The wines are made by a little, old semitic vintner from Cana (rumored to be somewhere in the Hamptons) who uses nothing but the finest varieties of water with is mixed with Serutan and Viagra. The hero(?)- Raymond Neenan, is the fabulously well-to-do owner of an entertainment production company. His career has been one of rationalized business takeovers and womanizing. god has a crush on him because she likes his taste in women and has a secret hope that Raymond will hit on her. All of the people Raymond has had business dealings with or been married to are portrayed as pathetic losers, i.e. his first wife and his parents, who obviously don't deserve divine assistance. In this regard, I do admire Greeley's exquisite sense of humor. After Raymond has died and is sent on a First Class passage to god, he passes his parents who are in steerage class having to work their way into heaven. I have instructed my family to bury me in jeans and a good pair of work shoes, so I will be properly outfitted for the afterlife. I strongly recommend this book for everyone. For the fabulously well-to-do, it provides a wonderful theology which includes making love to your wife (who will be personally selected by god for her beauty and insightfulness) several times daily and a divine dispensation to give money to charitable causes that bear your name instead of wasting it on worthless causes such as the poor. I mean, why should god or anyone who matters waste their time and money on people who don't even know what wine to serve with communion. What type of heaven would it be if they let everyone in. For the rest of us, this book teaches us that it would be better to save the few bucks we toss in the collection basket and buy lottery tickets instead. If you win, you might even get your own angel and you can trade in that inferior person you are married to and get a much improved model. Is this god great or what?

Summary: It's never too late to discover true happiness
Review: I just loved this book! I'm sure that if I knew that the novel was written by a priest, I never would have bought it... I'm so glad I did. Watching Ray discover what true happiness is all about as he trys to make ammends for his ruthless behavior, was a great trip.

I have to admit, I found myself identifying with Ray and wondering if I could find such happiness with my own family if I focused more on them then on building my business.

I enjoyed this book from cover to cover and would highly recommend it.

Summary: DON'T BOTHER
Review: I pride myself in taking a good deal of thought and preparation into writing my reviews.......unforunately this is all I can come up with:

There is an old adage that goes, "If you can't find something nice to say about someone, say nothing." I extend that to be "if you can't say anything good about a book, say nothing." NOTHING!!!!
