Summary: Much better than I expected
Review: My elementary schoolers loved this. The songs & stories & history made a real impression. I was surprised what came up in other conversations becuase they had listened to this. My daughter is sensitive and did not like the truth of what she learned but it was presented in a way that did not scare her. She may have become a bit angry about past actions but that seems appropriate.

If you are looking for just happy African songs to listen to, where your child is not given an option to think, you will want to look elsewhere.

Summary: An African American Experience
Review: This is a beautiful tape telling the story of the African American experience. Ysaye tells her stories in her soft, clear, lovely voice. They are beautiful human stories where she simply speaks her truth. Her stories are very spiritual and children of all ages (I'm 50) will enjoy and learn from listening to them. There is pain as well as laughter. Ysaye has some important lessons to teach. There are also some lovely musical pieces woven in with the stories. I highly recommend this whole series of tapes by Sounds True.
