Rating: Summary: Trashy, yet, Sophistocated. Review: I love Natalie Cole, and I must say I was waiting for this book to hit the shelves. I had no idea she was so knee deep into the drugs. This book is truly an inspirational read, as she has managed to pull her life together, looking better than ever I must add, and has rose to even greater heights than she did in the 70's. Read this book.

Rating: Summary: Good Book Review: I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I was hooked from the first page. I think it took a lot of guts to write about some of the things Natalie experienced while growing up and during her career. She was brutally honest & candid about her drug use and I'm glad that she's been able to stay clean. The book was very riveting and yet humorous at times. I can only hope that Natalie can someday mend the rift between her and her Mom.I graduated the same year that "This Will Be" became a hit. That's the Natalie Cole that I remember. I wasn't aware of her father's legacy nor the big shoes that she had to fill. I too saw the movie but it doesn't do the book justice! After reading this book it makes you want to listen to all of her CD's. Thank you Natalie for never giving up. It gives the rest of us hope that we too can overcome anything with God's help.
Rating: Summary: Very Inspirational! Review: I thought this was a very good book that told the ups & downs of the life of Natalie Cole. Although she charts her drug use, recovery & situations in the music industry, i felt she skimmed somewhat over the family details of her personal life. Details that I think wouldve added more drama to this tale. I would've liked to hear more about what went on w/ her & her mother, whom you can just look at & tell how difficult she probably was. Ms. Cole dosent say much except for the occasional "me and my mom weren't getting along during this period" excerps & almost nothing of her twin sisters & adopted brother (which by the way, i never even knew existed!). Sister Cookie is also a blur. She mentions in 2 brief pages the story of her brother but it wouldve been interesting to hear more. As a spiritual person, I truly appreciated her knowledge on God and the credit she gives Him for helping her through it all. He has certainly blessed her many times in her life. I too, did my time in the drug world & had so many closes brushes w/ death that I too feel as Ms. Cole does that, God was watching out for me. My recovery is over & my life is 360 degrees different that it once was. & like Ms. Cole, I too can look back & see how God had plans for me & how instrumental He is/was in my daily life. The comeback & accolades she acheived with her album "Unforgettable" was the icing on the cake after all that she went through. I'm glad I picked this book up.
Rating: Summary: Captivating, Intriguing, and Honest. Review: I truly enjoyed reading Natalie Cole "Angel On My Shoulder: An Autobiography". Although Natalie had many obstacles to overcome she had a very privileged life. She talked very candidly about her relationship with her mother and siblings. I felt sad reading that Natalie's mother was not a nurturing , supportive person when Natalie really needed her. However, I was elated to read how Natalie overcome all the hurdles in her path and turned her life around to be a more productive person. This book is one of encouragement for people with addictions who think there is no hope. I highly recommend this book.

Rating: Summary: TRULY "UNFORGETTABLE" Review: It must have been extremely difficult for a Natalie as a young person to ever envision filling the shoes of her infamous father. One of the most outstanding features of this book is Natalie's strength and determination to take responsibilities for her own actions and mistakes, as opposed to passing them on to someone else. Her life has been anything but a bowl of cherries, but the lessons learned have hit hard and one can see their are telltale signs of scars that still remain. As for Natalie's comments about praying over a homeless person and the next day concluding he had become an angel, she may very well have reached the right conclusion. As a street counsellor in a major city for many years, I came across many homeless people who overnight did depart from this Earth, and hopefully with all their trials and tribulations, some Higher Power did see fit to give them angel's wings. Just because one has not had the opportunity to live with dignity does not mean they do not deserve peace when they pass on. Most homeless people are not there by choice and it was never one of their long-term goals as a child to end up on the street. Circumstance and opportunity play a major role. The religious aspect Natalie brings to her life by venturing to say "God has chosen her for a special mission" so that she can inspire may well be what has given her the strength to heal and survive. Whether, in fact, God did have a mission for her is not for any of us to judge; the fact that this belief has allowed Natalie to heal and become whole is the important consideration. There have been many television interviews with Natalie but none brings about so much emotion as this book. Natalie is not much different from the rest of us, she has had some very bright spots in her journey, but she has also had her share of sorrow, obstacles and challenges. The book is certainly interesting and enlightening, and her talent is unquestionable. As far as talent, she can indeed match her father's shoes any day!
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Review: It takes someone like Natalie Cole, who has been under the public eye virtually all her life to write such a poignant and beautiful memoir. She didn't paint a pretty picture. It was hard, realistic, and very refreshing. She spoke of her marriages, divorces, addiction, career, and family so honestly, I didn't even knew about the lawsuit that occurred within the family. I only hope that within time perhaps Natalie, her siblings, and Mother could make peace.
