Summary: "Barry Trotter" Who?
Review: This book was the worst! I mean, come on, its a parody of the famous Harry Potter books and it shouldn't have ever been published....

Summary: Too Long
Review: This book would've made a funny short story, but no joke is funny enough to last almost 200 pages. This book is of course funnier than the real Harry Potter books, but then they are not meant to be very funny. The only reason I finished reading this book is because I was searching in vain for a non-potty humour joke.

Summary: Funny, Funny Stuff!
Review: This is a great book if you love Harry Potter or hate Harry Potter; if you've read the books, if you've only seen the movies, or even if you've never heard of Harry Potter. This is a great parody, no matter how you look at it. Any way you slice it, you still get a pile of shredded paper... which can be good for art projects. (...)

Summary: Gwah, buy it already!
Review: To make a long review short, I will state that 'Barry Trotter and the Unathorized Parody' lives up to its claims. It's a parody, and it's unauthorized. And most important of all ... it's incredibly funny.
I'm glad I chanced upon this book - it opened up a whole new world - and if I may say so, line of thought (now that's something to think about - a parody opening up an archetypal line of thought, in accordance to laws of alternate universes ... ) - and though I had earlier not read the Harry Potter series itself, I was inspired to. Though it might be hard for a few to appreciate humor of this kind - I most certainly do so. A word to the unwise: Don't ignore the fine print. And the disclaimers.
And though many might misunderstand, I'm certain that this book is more of a credit and definitely NOT an insult to J.K. Rowling's authorship. Potter people who are under the misconception that it is disparaging - it is not! I would advise you not reject this book - you most probably will like it. It inspired me to read the originals, after all ... fancy that (this does not make me ignorant of the Potter fandom. I hope).

I'm making a short review long here, so I shall cease and desist with this. Just buy the book, for to say anything more would be criminal spoiling. It is indeed worth your money - and the few minutes (hours, or days, depending on your reading speed) of your life.

Summary: Sick, raunchy,...kinda wiered
Review: To the author: Yes, I like Harry Potter to, but I dont go making fun of it...This is basically an issue of MAD magazine in a more book form. From what I have seen, the author pretty much stole most of his ideas from an issue I have once seen of that magazine. This guy is sick.... and, yes, he claims he did keep in mind that kids would also read this piece of "art", but fails to keep perverted jokes out of it. I'd be pretty [angry] if I were J.K. Rowling.... I mean, why would a fan of her work want to make fun of it? Another note: the price on this book is ridiculois, 10 bucks for a soft cover book? And yes, I HAVE read this, so I know what im talking about....

Summary: I LOVE THIS BOOK!
Review: Well, I was at first cynical about this. My reaction, I remember, was 'HOW could someone do this?' but then I read the first chapter on the net and after hearing VERY good reports about it, I decided to get a copy. Books were being published early over here in England, so I got myself one, and I finished it in 4 days! Gerber's writing style is consistant and funny. Comments made between the characters are hilarius, and people who have commented on it being 'toilet humour' just fail to see the fun in it. If you have read the Harry Potter books, you will get the way characters act and the jokes made about them. Being a die-hard HP fan, I got all of the jokes, and the americanisms easily translated into englishisms no trouble. The plot twist, being the ending, was a stroke of genius, and the way that this book rips it out of the American way of over-commercialising and over-exposing things is just..I can't even put it into words. This man is amazing, and he deserves more credit than he is getting!!! Well done Mike, you did yourself proud!

Summary: If you Love or Hate Harry Potter, this is the book for you!
Review: When I first heard there was a Harry Potter parody book, I searched every bookstore near and far to find it! But alas, my simple town did not carry such a joy! But when I ventured into the larger towns nearby, I was rewarded with a book so funny, so offensive to HP fans, and so satisfying to a funny bone, that is was worth the effort! HP fans alone will get the jokes taken from the books themselves (Travelling Snuff, the Buggering Bush), but any one with a sense of humor will laugh aloud at the fantasically put together wit of the authors (The spell aptly titled "ANOREXIANERVOSA" had me rolling on the floor!) The thought of the movie studios having poor J.G Rollins locked away in the maximum security ward of their building was ideal and, frankly, realistic nowadays! :-) This book will have you gasping in shame and laughing at your modesty! Read it for a good time and then read it again! Marvelous!
