Rating: Summary: Don't bother Review: There's a good reason Mad magazine and similar publicatons have pictures: Because pure narrative can only carry such base humor for so long. "Barry Trotter and the Unauthorized Parody" is undebatable proof of that.An attempted parody of J.K. Rowling's best-selling Harry Potter series, "Barry Trotter" is at best a poor attempt at humor. Filled with 174 pages of fingers being randomly shoved up noses and endless bathroom jokes, it is entirely devoid of cleverness, a key element -- strike that: THE key element -- of good parody. (The word sophomoric comes to mind, but then that seems to be a little generous. Perhaps "excretory" is more fitting. It certainly is in keeping with the theme of the book.) If you're tempted to pick up this book for your children out of a misguided attempt at coaxing them to read, resist. Instead, have them look up dirty words in the dictionary. That way, they might actually learn something worthwhile.
Rating: Summary: Pointless Garbage! Review: This book (if you can even call it that) is a complete waste of trees. The plot makes no sense and the author's sex jokes aren't funny. Why someone would make fun of such wonderful stories such as the Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings series (reffering to another parody) is beyond me. Take my advice and skip this and all parodies. I reccomend this book to trolls and Saddam Hussien and that's about it. BUY THE ORIGINALS!
Rating: Summary: Hi-LARIOUS!!! Review: This book is a must read. Seriously. Whether you like or dislike Harry Potter, you can't avoid the cultural phenomenon of Harry Potter. Hence, YOU CAN'T AVOID READING THIS BOOK!!! Mike Gerber is a top notch comedy writer. It's smart, funny, sexy, and more. What's more, Valentine's Day is coming up. Wouldn't that special someone love a copy of Barry Trotter? Of course he/she would...
Rating: Summary: Very funny to a true Harry Potter fan Review: This book is a well-written parody of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series and the more of a fan you are, in my opinion, the funnier this book is. Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself before purchasing it! Go to barrytrotter.com and you can read the first chapter. If you don't like it, don't buy it! But I think that if you can appreciate humor and are a fan of Harry, you'll be very interested to read on!
Rating: Summary: LOL!!!! Review: this book is soooooooooooooooooo funny! Even if it haas bad words in it I still read it! It's like a Harry Potter gone bad!

Rating: Summary: Hilarious! Review: This book is--there's no other way to put it--Delicious! Whether you're a Harry fan or hater, you're almost gaurenteed to love this book. Though I must warn you, there is some...errr....Sexual references and the like. But other then that, each little bit of the book is the perfect parody, and it's different enough from the actual series to keep you amused. (along with it's names for the characters and other books: "Lord Valumart," "Barry Trotter and the Acne of Fire," "Barry Trotter and the Philosopher's Scone," just to name a few). I highly suggest it for any fans of the books, or people who think that they're just a little too popular and overdone.
Rating: Summary: Too Funny Review: This book was hilarious! And, yes, it does seem to tick off 12-year-olds. To me, this is not surprising. Most 12-year-olds are just beginning to appreciate satire (it was around that age when I discovered the fun of Mad and Cracked) and those whose humor development is on the lower end of the scale will NOT appreciate satire when it involves their generation's most beloved characters. That said, I have a 12-year-old son who would appreciate the satirical value of this book and I still haven't let him read it because of the adult content. I would NOT recommend that parents buy this book for their children and you definitely can't teach it in school. Other than that, it's hilarious. Gerber's obviously read Rowling's books, as he understands the magical world and plays it to his best advantage. A great read - and worth [the money].
Rating: Summary: Very Funny! Review: This book was the best! I loved it! It was very funny, and kept me laughing. I love the Harry Potter books but still like this one! It does not make fun of Harry Potter at all. It's a must-read-book! Even if you don't like Harry Potter you should stll read it!
Rating: Summary: Funniest Book Ever Review: This book was the funniest book I've ever read. It's even funnier than the Simpsons!
