Rating: Summary: Opportunist Extraordinaire Review: This book just proves that, when opportunity knocks in the age of selfishness, who can resist?
Rating: Summary: All our heros are all to human, and the realization hurts. Review: I have only read Mr Stephanopoulos' book in exerpt form and to borrow a phrase from the Clinton administation...I feel his pain. To care about someone so deeply and watch him fall from grace is a dreadful experience for any human being. GS is a stronger person than I could ever be. As a lifelong "FDR" democrat who still respects Bill Clinton as a President, but no longer as a man I can see how hard it was for GS to write this book. It is insightful and well written but above all written by a man whom is not afraid to show the wounds we all bear. Thank you George, I've always admired you politically but now I admire you as a human being.
Rating: Summary: Real Eye-Opener! Review: I was amazed at the extent of Clinton's arrogance. Hillary appears to be an enabler who, in the long run, has certainly not done the President any favors by letting him continue his personal behavior with no consequences.
Rating: Summary: Recomended.....those that fall and the effect on others Review: Interesting read....much deeper than I expected. Wonder if he's telling the truth, if so Clinton was really a grand illusion of what could have been. Seems to ring true, Clinton could have been so much more.
Rating: Summary: Great book. Review: Although at times a bit long winded, George shows us that the White House is not, nor has it ever been, Olympus. Clinton, like MANY presidents before him, has devout followers who will not accept any writings which are contrary to their fanatical opinions. Why expose the failures of the President of the United States? Because we live in a Nation which allows us the freedom to do so. This book is great for many reasons. I suggest to those who critisize its content without reading to attempt the following: READ IT.
Rating: Summary: Guilty pleasure, dirty feeling. Review: Okay, I confess - it is pretty cool to get the feeling of being behind the scenes of this scandal ridden administration; however, one definitely needs a shower every few hours while reading this book. Something seems so wrong about ratting out (former) friends for personal gain. Perhaps George, Linda, and Elia can get together and take their show on the road.
Rating: Summary: A real waste of time Review: C'mon George, without Clinton you wouldn't exist. This books ranks you right up there with Linda Tripp for kissin' and tellin'. What the book illustrates is that you were a spin master when you worked for Clinton, and now you are a spin master when you work for yourself. Bah!
Rating: Summary: The truth shall set you free Review: George Stephenopoulos has been very impressive ever since he began his duties as an analyist for ABC. When the Lewinsky story broke, GS was the only one of the former staffers who actually expressed his own opinions about the matter. Now his excellent book is out and he is accused of being disloyal? He loyally served that loser Clinton and when he went to ABC, he loyally served his role as an analyist! Now, in his book he loyally serves the reader by giving his impressions of people and events from his perspective and not that of the Clinton spin machine. Ofcourse this book contains no bombshells, but it does reinforce all of the bad things about this White House that we have all known for a very long time, but unfortunately refuse to believe. P.S. - If GS made $4 million last year - good for him, this is America after all.
Rating: Summary: A Clinton Supporter with Ethics? Review: Finally, we have a Clinton supporter who has revealed ethics and honesty. A great book for all the liberals who have a foundation based on "spin,""situational ethics," and "lies." It is just too bad that Mr. Stephanopoulos didn't see Mr. Clinton as the liar, manipulator, and self indulged individual that most of the voting public knew him to be.
Rating: Summary: Hypocritical Review: As a pure read, this book was very entertaining and to some degree very enlightening. The Clinton White House is a place where it seems almost anything can happen, good, bad, and everything in-between. I couldn't help wondering though, why GS felt comfortable revealing all that this book does about Clinton et al., without shedding some more light on his own personal "journey." It seemed a little hypocritical, and perhaps a little dishonest for GS, as a non-independent observer, to let us in on some very personal and embarrassing Clinton moments, without letting us in on more of his own, especially the bigger ones. All in all though, very entertaining reading, from an obviously very bright author.
