Rating: Summary: very interesting book Review: LIving in the same town as Mrs. Brown it is thrilling to see a writer like her residing nearby. It's exciting to see a production company such as Hallmark choose to make a miniseries out of her story. I can't wait til it comes out. Who will be the star, only time will tell. Judging by the fact that the book only came out recently it will be awhile til we see the story on film. This is a realistic story of a woman who has lived throughout the twentieth century and who has blessed us by putting it down on paper. I hope she gains' a following.
Rating: Summary: A true inspiration to all women raising families today! Review: Nobody who reads this book will ever feel overworked or under appreciated, in quite the same way again. We have it so much easier today; and complain MORE !! My Mother is nearing the age of this remarkable woman, and we are hoping to get her to write her memories for us too; before they fade from her mind. She has been reluctant to start, due to the fact that she is not a professional writer. For her birthday this year, Mom is getting a copy of this book; and an audio tape, to listen to, and hopefully get inspired. My Mother has been a Nanny, earned a Master's Degree in Education, driven a Taxi and Limos for Official at United States Steel(during WW II), made bombs in a munitions plant, ridden Harley-Davison motorcycles, served as a Missionary for her church (where she met and married my Father), taught elementary school, raised two daughters, and still babysits their various off spring, while making beautiful quilts. Please God, let Jessie Lee Brown Foveaux give her the courage to tell us all about her adventurous life, too!!
Rating: Summary: A true inspiration to all women raising families today! Review: yeah yeah yeah we all KNOW this book was never intended for publication and yeah we all KNOW jessie lee is not a professional writer. . so what?! what a great day to day description of a life that those of us born in the 60's and later cannot imagine! it's full of great detail, some contradictions (different speelings of names, etc), but the richness of her ordinary life and the storytelling quality makes it worth the short time it will take you to read this book. Kansas and Missouri (even for you snobby east coasters) at the beginning of the century is a wondrous place for her. she can "set a spell" and weave stories in my living room anytime!
