Summary: Another convoluted mystery for Philip Marlowe to unravel.
Review: The overly restrained Orfamay Quest (from Manhattan, Kansas) hires Philip Marlowe to find her recently gone missing brother, Orrin. Marlowe, being bored, takes the case and soon wishes he hadn't. Any attempt at plot description beyond that will only lead to confusion. Suffice to say that Chandler is in fine form here, with a tense, baffling, and witty mystery among Hollywood's tarnished stars. Highly recommended.
