Summary: Odd Reactions
Review: Wow! Some people get pretty defensive when this book receives an even sightly negative review. I can understand that happening as people don't read many serious books on religion or philosophy now days. It could be easy for some to mistake this average thriller for something substantial and profound because it focuses on an unfamiliar topic - the nature of divinity. But this is just a silly thriller, ineptly researched and poorly written. There are many like this, although this is more pretentious than most. The author obviously set out to push some buttons and succeeded to a degree. The best characters I've encountered in fiction?? An important book?? Seriously? Does anyone have some point of reference based in reality? This is the sort of book that was published as a paperback original before the post-literate era began. Unbelievable and really very sad.

Summary: Jeza Justice
Review: The return of christ is a woman and clone of her paralyzed Israeli sister. The churches fight over if she's the real thing and Jeza out-debates the pope and exposes the rotten foundations of the Vatican and its true criminal intent. The author does a great job of exposing how corrupt the catholics are and how only Jeza can save them. It had me wishing it would happen now. Best book I read in a long time or probably ever will.

Summary: Suspense-filled thriller
Review: Very clever! I thought this was a book about religion, but it's not. It's about a reporter viewing the madness of religious fervor & chicanery at the turn of the millennium. Craziness & bizarrity with wit & humor along the way. A smattering of politics, military intrigue, a little science, lots of action & a mind-boggling plot! This is a sophisticated story with a lot of subtle threads and layers, if you care to look for them. Masterfully, told. Exciting (and nerve-wracking) till the final page. Four stars and accolades!!!!

Summary: Best story
Review: This is the first book I've read in years that held my interest all the way through. I never knew what to expect next and it kept me on the edge of my chair. I actually had dreams about it. Has this author written any other novels?

Summary: I'm in awe!
Review: As a published novelist myself, I hate to come across books like this because they are so intimidating. My hat is off to Glenn Kleier and this astoundingly original and captivating story. It grabbed me from page one and I literally missed meals to finish it. Without question, this is the book of the year, if not the decade. I'm in awe of this man's talent! Congrats!

Summary: Great story!
Review: Congratulations to Glenn Kleier! Terrific story! Took this novel with me on a business trip and didn't want to leave the plane! The suspense is excruciating and the action non-stop. Story takes you through a maze of experiences and places seen through the eyes of a TV reporter cuaght up in the ride of his life. The Jeza character is easily one of the most stunning creations I've come across in years. Her mind is brilliant and the twists and turns and surprises she takes you through is like having your soul strapped to a roller coaster. When's the next book?

Summary: It's 1933 all over again
Review: A Religious Right organization sent out a heads up to its membership the 3rd week in February targeting this and other WEB sites for attacks on publications they consider "dangerous," including the book THE LAST DAY and an upcoming movie based on the book. This email reads in part: "Make sure you disguise your comments and your identity... Vary your criticisms and your techniques so that the site host can't detect you. Remember, if you are always very negative, you won't sound convincing. Sometimes faint praise is better than harsh criticism. Making the author and his/her work look foolish and insignificant is more effective...don't give up. If everyone does his/her part...we'll halt these offensive materials from spreading." It's scary to know the Thought Police are still with us.

Summary: Offended Agnostic
Review: This was loaned to me by my inlaws, card carrying members of the 700 Club. They liked it! I expected to hate it. It turns out I just was disgusted by it. As an agnostic, I didn't give the so-called religious message much thought. But as Publishler's Weekly said in its review, this novel has such overwrought dialogue and poor writing that it's distracting. So is the deafening sound of all those axes grinding away. At least offer the reader a somewhat sympathetic central character. So this is one agnostic who is offended - by really bad writing.

Summary: Great Idea
Review: The idea that the messiah might return in the form of a woman is a fascinating one. As I was finishing this novel last night, I couldn't help thinking that the idea was squandered in a dumb thriller. A more capable writer could have brought such a character to life, explored a myriad of possibilities. Instead, heres a female messiah al a Gloria Allred, more a obnoxious fundamentalist who just finished the Classics Illustrated version of St. John than a christ. This is got to be the most ridiculous dialog I've read in years and certainly the worst researched thriller around. What a waste of a good idea.

Summary: Someone doesn't know his Bible
Review: I must respectfully take issue with those reviewers who feel this novel errs in its biblical foundations. As a tenured divinity college professor, I can attest that the biblical references cited are simpatico with Judeo-Christian scripture. Further, I find nothing here to offend even orthodox Jewry. Bear in mind, the book is not religious in genre, it's a secular, mainstream novel, and an exceptionally well written and thoughtful book that too many people are getting overly upset about. THE LAST DAY is a wonderfully engaging and challenging suspense thriller. Why not simply let people read it and enjoy it? I'm including it in my curriculum.
