It will never be forgotton. This book demonstrates a love that cant be lost or overcome by death. It continues. Katia's strength and courage and spirit should be an inspriration to anyone facing troubles. This book is a tear jerker. Everyone should read this book.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful and Touching Fairy Tale Review: I cried all the way through the book! "My Sergei" is, in my opinion, one of the best books that anyone could read. The love that Katia had for Sergei and he for her was described so tenderly and gently in this story. It's the best story since "Love Story" but I liked it even better because it realy happened. It's nice to know that true love exists, even in this day and age. "My Sergei" will touch, but also break, your heart as you read about this magical love.
Rating: Summary: Timeless Love Story Review: Having been to one of the performances mentioned in the book, this story more than brang tears to my eyes. Such a love that only few people experiance, cut so short. This book flows with vivid depictions, making it as if they were performing all over agian. A must read for anyone who believes in fairytales almost coming true.
Rating: Summary: A touching love story, that will melt your heart! Review: Katya displays her love for Sergei in this amazing book. Sergei was a husband and pairs partner to Katya. She was left with no one but her daughter Daria after Sergei died. Katya will melt your heart with her touching life story, and beautiful pictures! This book is worth any price!!!
Rating: Summary: WOW.... Review: What a tender relationship - it was the kind of relationship that we read about in a fairy tales... the kind we dream to come true but, unfortunetely, might happen once in a lifetime if you are lucky. The only thing missing was the "happily ever after" part. You know, here in the real world it just don't last. But what a touching story. I wanna love and be loved like that!!!
Rating: Summary: i absolutly loved it Review: i was crying before i finished the first page! it has been a book that i have enjoyed reading over and over again. also the pictures are great
Rating: Summary: It Will Make You Laugh, It Will Make You Cry! Review: The best love story since "Love Story"....E.M. Swift did a beautiful job of allowing Katia to "speak" to us in her own words. This book will touch your heart without becoming maudlin, morose, or sappy. My only criticism? Not enough pictures!!
Rating: Summary: An excellent book of life and love. Review: It is to her Sergei that Ekaterina Gordeeva writes this book. She writes it because she can no longer be silent. She writes it because she feels the urgent need to speak and tell us all about their life whether good or bad. Gordeeva's amazing writing voice creates a special tone of her own and an aura of a love lost, also hers to keep. She writes with all the honesty in her character, hiding nothing and telling it all. The content of My Sergei by Ekaterina Gordeeva is surprisingly detailed with small special memories from their childhood, after school years, and finally their married life. With a naïveté, uniquely her own, Gordeeva describes her life, first without Sergei, then including him in, then without Sergei again. As she talks about her Sergei, the softness and caress in her voice become clear. Then, describing her life alone with her little daughter, Daria, Gordeeva's voice changes again. She must be crying on the inside while she writes it for that is certainly the impression one receives from the reading. The tone of her voice is always reminiscent. She is no longer mad at life for loosing Seriozha. That stage, however, must have come and gone. At this point in time, I think Gordeeva is trying to find her Sergei in her memories and doing so has the need to share her grief. She says she is trying to find herself by training again. She will someday, for such is life. That day, however, has not come yet, based on what she writes. She is still hopelessly in love with Sergei and even his death does not seem to have changed that. The impact of this book is momentous. Personally, she had showed me that there is, in fact, true love in the world although finding it is pure random dumb but very satisfying luck. She has also made it clear that even the loss of such love is possible to overcome. My Sergei by Ekaterina Gordeeva is over all an excellent book. It is very well written in Gordeeva's simple honest naïve style. She writes about every detail she can remember from her life with her dear Seriozha, thus giving the reader a clear picture of her life with him and then her life alone.
Rating: Summary: What an inspiration! Review: I am mid-way through the book and already my tears have started falling. I grew up hating all the Russian skaters because they always beat our Americans. I always thought that Godeava and Grinkov were good- but I still held a grudge. When I heard the news that he had died- I felt a lot of guilt for ever disliking them. Through this book I realize how much they went through growing up in Moscow, how hard they trained for competitions and how hard it is for Katia to now skate without her Sergei. This book is truly inspirational and I wish Katia and Daria all the best in life!
Rating: Summary: Terrific Review: My Sergei is a touching book that is pleasureable to read. It doesn't only show a relationship grow into love. It also has an insight to the life of a figure skater. It also talks about loss of people you love. This book is hard to put down so it's great for an airplane ride or a rainy afternoon.
