Summary: intriguing
Review: Angela Hunt has once again written a thought-provoking, stimulating story with an unusual story line. You feel as though you are actually in the jungle along with the characters. An unpredictable and refreshingly unusual plotline. You have never read a story like this one. Very entertaining and with a surprise ending.

Summary: Very Disappointing
Review: At first this novel was compelling but then odd inconsistencies popped up. The main character had an very overblown reaction to the positive mention of Jesus, even for a non-believing character. She seemed a fairly reasonable person up till then. I coudn't understand her vehemently negative attitude. I realized that I had picked up a book with a somewhat fundemantalist bent. I continued to read but was sorry I had.

In The Canopy, all the Christians are good, self-sacrificing, and pleasant even when faced with adversity. The non Christians are unreasonable and prone to be cranky. Other religions are based on evil spirits and those that follow them are evil too. (In this case, The Angry People and a guide.) Bad things happen to bad people. Heaven forbid if you are involved in hanky panky or you will be among the first to be killed off. Angels can cure a version of Mad Cow Disease if you only believe.

There must be novels out there that can show the positives of Christianity without condemning the rest of the world or being sanctimonious but this isn't one of them.

Summary: Very Disappointing
Review: I enjoyed this scientists search for healing secrets in the jungle story very much--creative concept and packs a spiritual punch. It reminded me in setting and overtones of Sean Connory's movie, The Medicine Man, which I also enjoyed, but with the added dimension of the Christian worldview.

Summary: A new standard for Christian fiction
Review: Over the years people have accused Christian fiction of being many things, including shallow, poorly written, preachy, and obvious. If that's your idea of Christian fiction, I challenge you to read The Canopy, which is none of the above. This book is well crafted, thought provoking, and unpredictable. Angela Hunt sets a new standard of excellence in Christian fiction with The Canopy.

Summary: Wow!
Review: The Canopy - wow. This book is very hard to describe as it kept twisting and turning, it is scientific, mystery, miraculous, travelogue, thought provoking, scary, a little violent (people do get killed but that's all I am saying) definitely worth the read. I rank this as one of Angela Hunt's best.
