Summary: A great continuation
Review: Jane Kirkpatrick's depictions of characters and situations that were so wonderful in her book, All Together In One Place have been consistently carried over to this book. I love the fullness of humanity that she so skillfully conveys to her readers. I can't wait for the third book in this series.

Summary: Another historical winner
Review: Jane Kirkpatrick's sequel serves up another wholesome read. We follow the women into Shasta City where their journey ends and the attempt to make a living and a home for themselves becomes their newest priority. Each woman must face their own issues and cope with their personal frailties. In the face of the gold rush, everything becomes more complicated and expensive. Should they ban together as before, or should they say goodbye and get on with their lives independently?
This is another rich story guaranteed to prolong reader's fascination for this time period.

Summary: A Book You Can't Put Down
Review: Jane's new book "No Eye Can See" is a continuation of the lives of the women you met in "All Together in One Place". We get to share the hardships and joys of these women during their journey to the West. They suffered great losses and yet gained friendships to last forever. The character Ruth is indeed intriguing. "All Together in One Place" hinted about her past, but now we finally get to learn what she is all about. The story unfolds and keeps you on the edge and wanting to read more. I could not put it down and found I did not want the book to end. There are some wonderful surprises in the story, and you just know that there is more to happen! The good news is that there is another book in this series. I shall be waiting when it comes out!

Summary: Not like the first but still hangin' in.
Review: This book, a continuation of All Together In One Place, was a bit slower than the first one. I enjoyed the story but felt that towards the end of the book when I wanted the action to continue uninterrupted, Kirkpatrick yet again explored how the characters feel about each other. This break in the flow, slowed me down and I actually started skipping the "feelings" paragraphs to get back into the flow of the action.

That's the only reason I give it a 3 rating. I have become attached to the characters and will continue with the 3rd book soon.

Summary: No Eye Can See
Review: This is a continuation of the series, "Together In One Place", where several families come across the US in a wagon train and all of the men die, are killed or leave, leaving only women and children to continue. These women find strength and courage to continue on the trail and bond together like a family. One of the women is blind, with a child and another on the way who is born while on the trail. This second book is about her, as well as the rest of the group as they settle in Shasta City. It is a book you don't want to end, but you can't put down.

Summary: No eye can see
Review: This is the marvelous sequel to the story of widowed women heading west.

Jane Kirkpatrick draws a detailed and very realistic picture of the life and circumstances people had to face in California during the gold rush. The writing is brilliant. She did not make too many references to the first volume of the series. Only where necessary, she placed little hints that refreshed my memory about what had happened before.

The characters are painted as strong as we were used in "All Together In One Place". The life of every one of these women develops differently, yet is interwoven with that of the others. Apparently, there were too many women in order to keep up with all their stories, since they are NOT all together in one place anymore.

Although I am aware that this could have filled a book on its own, I missed to learn more about the new lives of the "Celestials" - the newly wed Asian women. This way it seems as if they hadn't been fully accepted members of the widows' group. In the first book, however, I had the feeling that the Asian women grew more and more self-confident and independent, contrary to their own culture.

On the other hand, in my eyes, the story about the relationship between Zane Randolph and the women Ruth and Suzanne takes too long to evolve and to climax. There are too many hints and repetitions about his insanity. This space could have easily been used for the Celestials.

Summary: NoEye Can See
Review: This is the second of Jane's Kinship and Courage series. I just finished it and think it is one of the best she's written. After finishing the first one in the series,All Togather in One Place, I couldn't wait to read the second one. Now I am looking forward to the third one. Jane is by far the best author I've ever read. I can identify with her and her courage as she and her husband homesteaded their place at Starvation Point. All her books are terrific and my husband enjoys them as well. In fact we almost fight over who gets to read her lastest first. I've recomended them to all my friends and they all love her. Any of her books are well worth reading. She has so much talent and does such a fine job in her research that you know any of it could have really happened the way she wrote them. I look forward to reading her next one very much.

Summary: Great series to read
Review: This was a fantastic series to read. I couldn't put it down, you actually feel like you know all the women in the series. You hope that Tipton will survive her loses, and you hope for good things for Mazy and Ruth. I can't wait to read more by Ms Kirkpatrick. She makes you feel like you are there with them.
