Summary: It made me a true DOORS fanatic.
Review: The book was mainly about the life and death of Jim, but it also focused on the aspect that Jim did not want all the credit. He valued his fellow bandmates as much as they valued him. This is the only bio of Jim and the Doors that I have read so i can not compare it to any other bio's fairly. It is a very good book, co-written by someone very close to Jim and an obvious Doors historian, Danny Sugerman. The book provides us a view of Morrison from the people who surrounded him and loved him.

Review: This book is great. However there are some slow parts to the book like most books. I definitely recomend anyone who likes the Doors or Jim Morrison to buy the book.

Summary: One of the greatest books ever
Review: I must say that this book had to be one of the best and most interesting that I've read in a long time. One thing that I love about it is that the author doesn't write the book from one person's perspective, it gives you an all around sense of view of the life of Jim Morrison. I love this because you aren't then led into feeling the author's feelings themselves. This way you are able to make your own view on Jim Morrison. I have read several other books on Jim, including Break on Through (which is also a great book that I suggest) and out of them all I must say that this is one of the best!

Summary: An entertaining Waste of time
Review: I first read this book when I was fourteen. At that time I was the intended audience. While it is full of facts, it completely lacks any insight. All attempts at understanding the inspiration behind Jim Morrison's behavior were totally sophmoric. This is definitely a book that was written to sell copies by glorifying his excess. Like the movie, it is thoughtless and shows no understanding of its' subject. It damages the memory of a very human figure. The writing is callow and the man it portrays is an immature person's(read the writers) fantasy of what it would be like to be a sybaratic rock star. If you are really interested in some insight into the man, read his writings. If you want to get a personal sense of this creative force, whose life was really a tragedy, read Patricia Kennealy's Strange Days: My life with and without Jim Morrison. You'll get a lot more humanity for your buck. Paying for this book is like buying a Jim Morrison slurpee cup.

Summary: Excellence in Research of the Lizard King
Review: I wanted to write a little note to say that I thought it is one of the best biography I have ever read. It is well researched and written. The chance to read about Jim Morrison and form your own opinion instead of the author guiding you to one, is great. I have read the book several times and continue to tell my dad each time that he did a great job in writing it.

Summary: Lost Little Girl in Sweden
Review: Well, hiya'!!! I read this book about a half year ago, but I still remember it very well. I digged' the book a lot and yes, it was a lot of intresting facts in it..things I didn't know untill I've read that book. I, too, must say that it was very intresting to read about Jim's beloved Pamela. This book included a little bit more than just the band and Jim. (If you ever can say "just" about The Doors!?) I loved this book, and I love The Doors! ALL of them! (Cause The Doors is more than just Jimbo) If you dig' The Doors, I suggest you to read this fine book! PEACE! /Alexandra

Summary: A basic information for a doors fan
Review: I'm a Mexican fan of The Doors and i think that this book includes some views unknown of Jim and the band. For example: i didn't know that they were in Mexico City on 1970 in the Plaza Mexico I sincerely recommend it for every fan that wants to "break on through to the other side".

Summary: Morrison myth shattered!
Review: This is the only book I have read about Jim Morrison and The Doors and if most of it is true the book has partially destroyed the myth of Morrison in my eyes. Before I read the book I only knew Morrison through his music, which was inspired and fun to listen to.After reading the book Morrison emerges as a moody, brooding, petulant jerk/drunk/druggie who mistreated and used friends, girlfriends, acquinatances and associates. Hope you weren't expecting a happy review. The Jim Morrison of this book is a mental case.

Summary: Impressive & informative if you want to know about Jim!
Review: I was introduced to Jim Morrison when I was in Class XII basically by my friends.Generally I got hooked onto the DOORS and Jim himself!But I always had this tremendous craving for knowing more about the legend that was Jim Morrison.So I got a hold of "The Doors" movie by Oliver Stone.Some of my curiosity and want of knowledge was satisfied but not quite all of it.Then somewhere I got hold of "No One Here Gets Out Alive"..........that was quite an experience!! The book provides a tremendous insight to the man many of us are crazy about...his personal life,his attitude to life,his influences,his loves,his way of thinking,his outlooks..... The book is very well written.There is not a single moment of boredom and you'll want to rip it apart in simply one go!!But I guess you would basically have to like reading biographies in the first place. At the end I got to know a WHOLE lot more of this legendary "American Poet",and believe me I was confused on whether to actually love him or hate him for his self-centeredness and egotism! But I surely enjoyed the book thoroughly ....I'm sure any other person interested in knowing more about Jim Morrison and the Doors would love it too.

Summary: Loved it, a great Morrison biography
Review: This book gives a very good overview of the life of Jim Morrison. It was one of my favorite biographies of Jim of the many(10-12) I have read. I would say this book takes a very lose second. I enjoyed the auther's approach to the subject and found it to be a very interesting and well-written biography. I recomend this to anyone looking to find out more about Jim or anyone who is just becoming interested in him. This book will give you many fun facts. It was hard to put down.
