Summary: "An Imaginative Tale"
Review: When an asteroid threatens the Earth, NASA launches a shuttle mission to nuke the big rock into a stable orbit. The operation goes smoothly. But when Cmdr. Boston Low, scientist Ludger Brink & TV reporter Maggie Robbins explore the interior, the asteroid transports them to a far away planet of wonder and danger. Enjoyed it immensely! Good job on the characters. All 3 had the personalities needed to survive on the alien world of Cocytus. Great interaction between rock solid, ice-water-for-blood Low and spirited yet experienced Robbins. Loved the transformation in Brink. Added a lot to the tension of the story. Lots of really awesome stuff to be found on the planet, especially some green crystals that play a big, big part in the story. The exploration and deductive skills of the characters as they make one discovery after another was well done and believable. The Cocytans are great aliens. Millions of beings of pure thought, all connected and existing in a dimension just beyond our. Loved their observations of the human visitors and how their efforts, to many of them, are merely a sideshow. Yet others root for them and desire to help them, even though they are unable. The one complaint I have is that I would have liked to see more fear among Low, Ludger and Maggie of possibly being stranded on this alien world for the rest of their lives. While they are curious, smart and confident, even the best of us would get scared to our depths at one point or another in such a situation. Despite that, the book was a great sci-fi tale.

Summary: Better than other sci-fi books!
Review: When I bought the book just for game cheats, I thought that the book would be boring, but it was the best sci-fi book I've ever read. The book starts out slow and boring, then gets more exciting. I got a little confused at the end, but got the idea. At the same time, I was playing the game, The Dig, by LucasArts Entertainment Company. The book only helped me a little with the game, though.()

Summary: A Great Book and Computer Game
Review: When I bought the computer game The Dig, I was surprised that a novel came with it. I played the game first, and since I loved it, went ahead and read the book. It turned out that the novel was just as good as the game. Even though it wasn't in movie form, it was even greater to say that I both read the book and was a part of its outcome in the game! I could even choose if two of the main characters ended up together! It was great.

Summary: A first contact book with a puzzle woven into the story line
Review: When I first started the book I thought the story line was a of juvenile theme, but after about 30 pages you soon find out that there is an underlying mystery that is the basis of the book. The story is an adaption of a PC adventure game that Lucas arts of Star Wars fame produced, and it wonderfully gives the best of both worlds, the discriptive imagery of Alan Dean Foster and the cunning puzzle of the game. The story is a first contact book that revolves around the adventures of the three main charecters, Boston Low, a NASA astronaut, Dr. Ludger Brink, a scientist, and Maggie Robbins, a reporter. Thier adventures exploring an alien planet are the premise of the novel. The book is a good story that holds the reader and leaves you wanting to play the game to see if you are as good as the charecters

Summary: A Great Book and Computer Game
Review: When I got this book I really didn't know what to expect. Sure it was writen by ADF by it could be a let down right? Wrong! The story revolves around an Earth saving space mission which goes wrong. The "unlucky" astronauts are ship wrecked on a planet far away from home. They battle group dynamics, alien equipment, alien creatures and others to find their way home.

This book is highly imaginative, well written and smooth. I found the book to be compelling and deeply engrossing. If you want a book that whips you along the star lines at the speed of light and doesn't let you go.. Get this book!!!

Summary: A great book for everyone!
Review: When my Mom got me the book, I read it just to look for game hints, but then I really got into the book. It starts out slow and boring, then gets better. I got a little confused toward the end, but got the idea. If you love books like I do, read The Dig and find out about the computer game at lucasarts.com
