Summary: A Good Read
Review: A Good Read. Really enjoyed the "bad guy". The cop is great also. The idea of the "city" under New York was great.

Summary: Evil has a name and it's Marlon
Review: Did you ever notice how stories, especially mystery stories are enhanced or even dependant on their setting? Victorian London for Holmes or the Navajo Reservation for Leaphorn and Chee? This story centers around all the underground tunnels and conduits of New York City. Unlike the detectives mentioned above, in this story, the bad guy has the intimate local knowlege. And boy is he bad!

Summary: Looking for a change of Authors? Try this book
Review: I try to not let flashy book covers grab my attention, but sometimes they do and I'm glad this one did. I was bored and wanted to read something out of the blue so I gave Mr. Dantz' book a try. The reviews said that it was a fast read and you couldn't put it down. I would have to agree. What made it so fast was that the chapters were so short. It reminded me of Mr. Crichton's Jurassic Park (again, read it - the movie did it an injustice) Short chapters - make for quick reads, because as the reader you feel like you are accomplishing something and you tell yourself (or I do) okay the next chapter I'll go to sleep, but this book kept me turning the pages.

I have to admit that the ending could have come a little sooner and I was getting a bit tired of the characters, but all in all I really enjoyed this book.

My only regret is that Mr. Dantz' other work is out of print. I'd like to read more of his material if it was anything like "Nine Levels Down"

Summary: Rodman Philbrick, AKA 'William R. Dantz', on this story.
Review: Researching 'Nine Levels Down' was great fun, because it meant spending time in New York City at the same Washington Square Hotel where my protaganist, Anna Kane, stays while working on the MSD Project. I was astonished to discover the extent of New York's underground systems - subway, utilities, access tunnels, abandoned train tunnels, and so on. Hundreds of miles, more than a few unmapped or forgotten. Indeed, a city beneath the city. I thought this was an appropriate metaphor, considering the subject matter is about the dark and secret pathways within the human mind. Read, enjoy - and you better leave the lights on. By the way, 'William R. Dantz is a pen name. By real name is Rodman Philbrick. Many of my other books are listed on this site.

Summary: Worth a look, but nothing shocking
Review: This was a very fast, easy read, but not too thrilling or suspensefull. The first half was way too slow, but the ending was interesting, although predictable. A good book to read for fun and relaxation, but nothing very stimulating here.
