Rating: Summary: Loved the protagonist! Review: All ages will love this book. I recommend it for teenagers as well as adults. It gives a real insight into spying during ww2. It moved quickly and kept my interest. The characters were interesting and it was cleverly crafted! I look forward to the sequel!
Rating: Summary: Not riveting Review: Story line above. This thriller didn't hold my attention as it should have. The second have did outpace the first have, but that wasn't enough for me to give this a high recommendation. Very few of the characters were very exciting. Of course Catherine was the most exciting, yet most unbelievably potent, character in the novel. There are many more novels of WW2 intrigue that out pace this one. Recommend..Library
Rating: Summary: Fair ar best Review: This novel is a dubious debut. Questionable at best. Look, I realise it's a first novel, but please...Skip this one and read The Unlikely Spy. Now there's a spy thriller! And you can bet the farm that Mr. Altman himself has read it--repeatedly. I mean even his Nazi female spy and Mr. Silva's (The Unlikely Spy) share the same first name: Catherine. Couldn't think of another name? Hey, wasn't Silva's Chatherine's father being held at a concentration camp as leverage as well? Hum? The dust jacket says Mr. Altman comes from a long line of writers. Obviously, one of them pulled some strings for him.
Rating: Summary: Fast paced thriller Review: If you're looking for an entertaining, fast paced thriller, this book is it. I thoroughlly enjoyed it, and am now sharing it with my family.
Rating: Summary: Intrigue Galore Review: This fast paced debut novel is full of intrigue, plot twists, thought provoking characters, and gray areas often not seen in conventional spy thrillers. I predict a stellar career for newcomer John Altman. Maybe a little less violence next time around.
Rating: Summary: First Rate Thriller Review: I bought this book based on Jack Higgins quote and was not disappointed. This is a first rate thriller full of historical detail, action, intrigue, and a most impressive female Nazi spy who meets her nemesis and the sparks fly.
Rating: Summary: First Rate Thriller Review: This first rate thriller kept me entertained for many hours driving from St.Louis to Santa Fe. It made me want to stop at Los Alamos. The clever combination of fictional and historical characters with intrigue and action to spare make it a great book on tape!
Rating: Summary: Must Read Novel! Review: If you're looking for a plain old enjoyable spy thriller this book is the ticket! I've recommended it to all my friends who enjoy the genre, and am eagerly anticipating the next novel from this obviously talented new writer on the scene.
Rating: Summary: 10 Stars!! Review: I'd give this new World War II spy thriller l0 stars if I could, but 5 is your highest rating. I found this book to be extremely well written, intriguing, full of historical details and figures intermingled with fictional figures in a skillful manner. I couldn't put it down once I started it. Bravo, John Altman!!
Rating: Summary: Best New Novel This Summer Review: Impressive hardly touches this first novel by author John Altman. The plot, characters, intrigue, and nonstop action, all set in World War II America and Europe combine to make this the best new novel I've read this summer. Don't miss it!
