Rating: Summary: A taut, well-plotted thriller Review: Pearson's latest Lou Boldt thriller is a good one, a great rebound from last year's (The First Victim) in this humble reviewer's opinion. Like that last one, Middle of Nowhere finds Pearson continuing to move away from the "madman baddy threatening the entire city," type storyline, only this one is done much, much better than The First Victim. For one thing, the personal storylines are back, and things between Daphne and Boldt heat up (causing them more than a few problems both at home AND at work). Secondly, Pearson masterfully weaves two different sets of storylines (attacks on police officers during a "sick out" strike and a series of violent burglaries) together so that there is just no telling who is at the bottom of each set of crimes. Is it the same person committing both? Or is there more than one criminal on the loose? Boldt really has his hands full in this one. A great book in this series, one of the top 2 or 3.
Rating: Summary: Don't Waste Your Time Review: I finished this book because it was the only one I had with me on a long flight. Phew! Haven't we all read this book before a thousand times? Haven't we seen the same story on Law & Order or in the movies? Bad cops? Crazed killers? Oh, please. Don't waste your valuable time.
Rating: Summary: Great Read! Review: I really enjoyed Ridley Pearson's newest book, "Middle of Nowhere." He writes with authority and authenticity about police work and procedures. I am a fan of Lou Boldt and his wife Liz and especially John LaMoia. I could do without the tension between Lou and Daphne, but the characters are written well and it is a great addition to the Lou Boldt series. I can't wait for the A&E movies! It is worth adding to your collection!
Rating: Summary: A good read-but enought of the Daphne dilemma! Review: As always, Pearson's books are fast paced, interesting, and a fun read. Am I the only one who can't stand Daphne? I can see it like a train wreck, Liz is going to get killed off, leaving Lou available for the pert, perky Daphne. Hope I'm wrong. Their relationship gets in the way of an otherwise great book.
Rating: Summary: Best yet! Review: The Middle Of Nowhere is the latest release from Ridley Pearson, and the best book I've read this year! Tight prose, plotting, and characters make it a page turner. The Bolt/Daphne dilemma is starting to grow old, but it's handled well here, and the fast pacing kept me from becoming frustrated with it. A great read!
Rating: Summary: Oh My God! Review: What a frightening scenario! How true though. Made me put my call block back on my phone! Who would ever think about cons making phone calls for insurance companies...Griping from beginning to end. I thought they would never get everyone out of that book "alive" to solve another crime! Thank you Mr. Pearson!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Twists 'til the very end Review: Ridley Pearson does it again, revisiting the life of Seattle cop Lou Bolt. The "Blue Flu" has infected the Seattle Police Department and over half the force sits at home while Bolt, Daphne Matthews and the regular cast work to find the person that brutally attacked a fellow officer. Bolt is a likeable character, that faces the daily struggles of being a husband, father, friend and cop. Facing division in the force, Pearson's writing forces Bolt to look deep within himself to find answers. Pearson is a master at weaving several storylines around one another, until they reach the shattering climax together. "Middle of Nowhere" is a must read this summer! Having lived in Seattle for 8+ years, I feel like I am walking down the streets along with the characters. Pearson's storytelling dares you to put down the book, a feat not easily accomplished by most of today's writers. You won't be disappointed to find your self in the "Middle of Nowhere". The only disappointment that you will have is waiting for the next book from Mr. Pearson.
Rating: Summary: Excellent !! Review: If you've been reading Ridley Pearson's books, don't miss his newest !! If you've never read his books, you're missing great entertainment ! One of the best detective series around ! Lou Boldt and his team become old friends - I enjoy meeting up with them again in each new book. The characters are very human, there's plenty of action and suspense. It's another of those books you can't put down - Ridley is good at that ! Looking forward to the next book !!!!
Rating: Summary: Such an awesome page turner!! Review: I cannot remember when I started reading Ridley Pearson's books, but once again, he has not let me down. This book went to work, laundry room, gym, and bed with me until it was finished. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat and flipping the pages like mad. Thank you Mr. Pearson, I always love Lou Boldt and looking so forward to more of this. I strongly recommend this as a MUST READ for any one who loves suspence. :)
Rating: Summary: Blue FLu? Lou Boldt caught in the Middle Review: I just finished reading Middle of Nowhere. It certainly kept my interest! When the animosity between the departments and personalities of the patrolman, Detectives, etc. are put aside because an officer is brutally attacked, even though the Dept. is suffering from the the remnants of the Blue Flu,they combine forces to hunt down the man responsible. The twist is......but, who is responsible? Boldt and his compadres are certainly put through their paces trying to solve this one. The romantic tension between Lou Boldt and Daphne Matthews gives the reader a look at an ordinary man dealing with an not so ordinary situation. All the elements of a good police story make this book great to read.
