Summary: Silly and insipid
Review: This book rated one star, it's strictly for the teen age set. Perhaps, even they would not think it was good. The plot is insipid and full of adolescent behavior on the part of supposed adults.

From now on, I will not be paying good money for Lindsey's books.

Summary: Sadly lacking!
Review: I have in the past really enjoyed Lindsey's books. This just like the previous book of hers is a true exception. Both have been lacking something and I even debated on whether or not to buy this one. Well....I did buy it and wish that I had just went to the local library and checked it out... The characters in this book were mundane and it was hard to find true passion between the characters that was authentic and believable. I sincerely hope her books improve. This one just doesn't seem to have the depth previous books of Lindsey's have. Sorry....wish this could be a better review....

Summary: Much better than I thought it would be!
Review: From the boring back cover to the lukewarm reviews, I was sure that this book would be a waste of money, but I was actually pleasantly suprised! The characters were all well developed, and the dialog was very witty. The supporting characters were especially enjoyable, and I look forward to a book with Rafe someday in the future. The description on the back cover is slightly confusing (or maybe I'm just dumb) so to clarify...Sabrina is on the marraige market, as is the girl Ophelia who Sabrina is hanging out with. Both are the same age, and Ophelia is trying to figure out a way out of the betrothal she is already in. It is not a book about Ophelia and Duncan not being able to be seperated because of the betrothal, which may come as a relief to some (and perhaps an inducment to actually buy the book?) Anyway, just wanted to say that it is much funnier and more enjoyable than it seems to be on the face of it.

Summary: Not bad...but not great, either
Review: I have certain expectations when I read a Johanna Lindsey novel. We know that the hero isn't going to realize he loves the heroine until the last chapter or two. We know the heroine will know long before he does. We know they'll have some sort of big fight or disagreement. We know they'll overcome it...

I thought that this book offered a little twist on the expected story. The heroine was at least very likeable. She is not stunningly beautiful, which is a change from most of Lindsey's heroines. She is smart and witty, thank goodness. And he's Scots, which is always one of Lindsey's stronger character traits.

They struggle, but in the end, fall in love. The story is pretty well written and is certainly worth an afternoon of reading, and well worth a day in a beach chair reading. But don't expect it to be her best. You'll be disappointed.

Summary: The Heir
Review: Over the years I've read a great deal of Johanna Lindsey's books and have enjoyed them. I'm not entirely dissappointed in this one, but I'm not entirely please with it either. For being a book about Sabrina and Duncan it spent WAY too much time talking about the protagonist. It seems to me that the two main characters should have been the focus of the book rather than the person trying to keep them apart. The only thing I can think of is Ms. Lindsey is trying to set up the characters for a sequel...which I would probably read. The book was entertaining and I did enjoy all the characters and their relationships to each other. I just wish there was more about the relationship between Sabrina and Duncan.

Summary: I loved it
Review: Despite the many complaints from other reviewers about the lack of sex, I loved this story. Lindsey has a way of making her characters seem so real, from the aunts, to the grandfathers all the way to the two heros of the story, it almost made you feel like you were right there with them. Thanks Ms. Lindsey for several hours of pure pleasure.

Summary: My first Lindsey
Review: This was the very first Johanna Lindsey book I read and I have been reading her ever since! It took me a few pages to get into the Scottish brogue, but now I find myself wishing she'd write more books with Scottish characters! If it was good enough to get me hooked on Lindsey, than it is good enough to read!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not up to expectations.
Review: I used to enjoy reading anything from this author, but lately her books do not seem up to her usual talents. This one was hard to get into, and hard to stay in to.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An Enjoyable Read!
Review: She has great humor and lightheartedness. Her romances are so fun to read. Some authors put too much angst and sorrow into a romance, but Lindsey does it just right. This is better than a cup of hot cocoa on a winter's day. I loved both fathers in this story and the interaction between them.

Summary: What was the point
Review: First Duncan, the hero, is engaged to a woman, Ophelia, he's never met because she's a great beauty. Both his meddling grandfathers are for this loveless match. Then when he finds a woman,Sabrina, who is also his best friend, at least one grandfather is against any match because it's not love. Like the unknown first beauty was. Then Duncan places honor above his personal preferences to save Ophelia while at the same time he has compromised his "best friend". So the moral of the story is be honorable IF others may be aware of an dishonorable act but be dishonorable if you don't think you'll be caught. Sounds like politics to me. Sabrina was a bit too understanding and self effacing, and I couldn't figure out what inspired the loyal feeling to the Scottish grandfather, not a very likeable character. All told too many mixed messages. Perhaps the author will get it right if she uses Rafe Locke for her next hero but please not a reformed Ophelia as the heroine. She was the only character besides Rafe, whom I enjoyed. She, I enjoyed disliking.
