Summary: excellent
Review: I adore this book as much as all books in this seires. It is a pity that there are many movies on the subject but niether of them convey real atmosphere of the 17th century France and its national dignity. I do not want to offend fans of Di Caprio but he is real weak for the role of Louis XIV. Besides, the story of love of the king and Louise de la Valliere deserves more attention than it is shown in the movie. I hope peole will read the book after watching different movies with the same title (I know about 4). Dumas talent to captivate a reader is amazing: I read all his musketeer books in a few days! It gave me an inspiration to read many French novels and historical books in order to find out more about that beautiful period of the French history and the birth of Versailles. I can recommend a book called "Molliere" by Jacques Bordonove, who writes with a real French spirit about the court of Louis XIV and where you may meet many familiar names : )

Summary: It sux.
Review: I hated this book. Talk about boring!!! I had no clue what was going on for half the book. The main idea was pretty interesting, but could Dumas make it any harder to read?!?! I liked the movie. In conclusion there is only one word which is suitable to thoroughly describe this so called masterpiece of both fictional and historical literature: SUX.

Summary: Volume 6 of the D'Artagnan Romances.
Review: Dumas wrote a series of novels about D'Artagnan and the Musketeers. The Man in the Iron Mask is the second most recognized of the series. It is a great novel which is even better if you read it in progression after the others in the series.

The Three Guardsmen
Twenty Years After
The Vicomte de Bragelonne
Ten Years Later
Louise de la Valliere
The Man in the Iron Mask

Summary: More great stuff from Alexandre Dumas!
Review: I only wish he had written another 1000 pages in each of the great novels about the 3 (4) Musketeers. The story telling is timeless and the translation here was well done.

A very enjoyable read!

Summary: Don't expect it to be like the movie
Review: I enjoyed The Man in the Iron Mask except for the fact that half way through the book Dumas almost completey abandoned the title character. This book is more of a final chapter in the Three Musketeers series than an avdenturous swashbuckler. It's sad, but good.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A thrilling ending to a wonderful series!
Review: The Man in the Iron Mask is a fitting finale to a wonderful series of books (which begins with the Three Muscateers). Action, romance, adventure... it's all here! If you enjoyed this book, don't fail to read the Three Muscateers and Twenty Years After... the same type of action with the same stars (earlier in their careers/lives).

Summary: The Great Sequel to the Three Musketeers
Review: Alexandre Dumas wrote a great sequel to The Three Musketeers called The Man in the Iron Mask. Overall, I liked the book because it was a great adventure for the imagination. It made me feel as though I was there with the characters. The only things I didn't like were that the book barely mentioned the title character "Philippe," or the man in the iron mask. Another reason I didn't like the book was because it was hard to understand the words since the author used old English. For example, on page the author wrote: "" I first watched the movie in March and I figured this would be an easy read because the movie is based on the book. Boy, was I wrong! The movie had absolutely nothing in common with the book except the setting and the characters. I was a little disappointed at the ending because I thought Philippe would be freed.

Summary: I've never read anything with such a mix of action + emotion
Review: I've read abridged versions of The Three Musketeers, I've seen numerous movies, independant and based on the books, and I've now read the full, unabridged version of The Man in the Iron Mask. First off, I enjoyed the movie, but it shouldn't have carried the same title. I still have strong emotions regarding the finish of this novel, and I finished sometime in July '98. All I can think is, "Why couldn't these guys exist?" Aramis, Athos, Porthos, and especially D'Artagnan are the greatest men I've ever known in fiction or real life. (with the exeption maybe of Hamlet, but D'Artagnan is great for all the same reasons, especially in this finale to the trilogy.) Regardless, the three musketeers and D'Artagnan never fail to amuse me with their comradery, impress me with their self-confidence and skills, and intrigue me with their minds.

Summary: One of the greatest books I have ever read!
Review: I read this book after watching the movie, and found it twice as entertaining. The strong bond that Athos shared with his son, Aramis and Porthos's attempt to escape the cavern of Locmaria, d'Artagnan's loyalty to his friends and to his king...The king's identical twin brother is hugely overshadowed by the three (make that four) musketeers and their final adventures.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best book I've ever read
Review: This book was filled with adventure, drama, sorrow, and followed a twisting, fascinating plot. I read the book in less that a week and never regretted it once. The subject of the book (I won't ruin it!) is now what I am currently researching. Read this book. It is the only one that I will recommend.
