Rating: Summary: A Captivating Christmas Poem Review: The illustrations in this book are spectacular! Any child or adult would be captivated by the imagery within the pages of this timeless tale. This book brings Santa Claus and his eight tiny reindeer to life, through vibrant color and creativity. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to bring back the memories of childhood or make new family traditions by reading this poem to their little ones.
Rating: Summary: The Perfect Family Gift Review: The Night Before Christmas by Clement Moore, with illustrations by Mary Engelbreit, is the perfect Family gift or chidren's present. The poetic tale of The Night Before Christmas, can become a lovely custom to sit and read with a child during the hectic days preceding the Holiday. Every family should own this classic tale that never tires children. The illustrations are magnificent in this book, but not too sophisticated for children. It could be any era, not just 1820. I remember with nostalgic pleasure having this read to me, until I began to recognize the words and reading it to myself on a nightly basis. I am sure another generation of children will be thrilled with this book, and their parents will likely feel the same with the memories it invokes.
Rating: Summary: The Night Before Christmas Review: The Night Before Christmas is a Christmas poem. The poem has a short little story to it, which I'll try to explain. Everyone is sleeping, the house is quiet. But then there was a chatter and a little one rose from his bed. He looked out the window and saw Santa's sleigh. Santa came to the house where the little boy stayed. In a flash the boy ran down to his living room to meet Santa. The room was full of present and Santa gave an extra special one to the eager little boy. I really enjoyed this poem. My mother used to read it to me on Christmas Eve. The poem is so carefully though out. I hope you let this great poem become part of your Christmas season. Ryan J.
Rating: Summary: Great illustrations Review: The poem is legendary of course but what my children (3 and 6) love is how Tasha Tudor brings the story to life. Every drawing has so many things going on that they find new ones every time we read it. By far their favorite Chistmas book.
Rating: Summary: A Happy Christmas to All Review: This beautiful book was in my family as a hard cover edition for many years and was a Christmas Eve tradition for my four sons when they were growing up. It's poor battered body disappeared some time after the last of my little ones went off into the adult world. I am so delighted to see it back again, though this time as a nicely affordable soft cover. Clement C. Moore's enchanting story poem already provides an atmosphere filled with warmth and joyful expectation and with the addition of Tasha Tudor's quaint, nostalgic water-colors from an antique New England the Christmas magic is complete! The winter landscapes fill our senses and Tasha's own gray tabby cat and Welsh Corgi welcome us into this charming world. Tasha's Santa that you will meet in this book has been portrayed as the poem describes him...a right jolly old elf. He's not that much larger than the corgi and his team really consists of eight "tiny" reindeer. His pointy ears and his Eskimo mukluks add to the delightful ambiance of the book. He dances with the toys and with the happy animals and we can truly believe it will be a happy Christmas for all. I hope this book becomes a Christmas Eve tradition for many, many more families.
Rating: Summary: Lovely , nostalgic Review: This book takes classic Christmas illustrations from old (1890 - 1926) postcards and other materials to make a conglomerate of visions of "Jolly Old Saint Nick" in the poem "The Night Before Christmas". It is not mushy, nor too busy. By that I mean the drawings do not overwhelm the poem or the reader. It reflects the way I feel at Christmas. My almost 4 year olds do like it, too. Better than their Golden Classic version.
Rating: Summary: Gorgeous Illustrations! Must have for Christmas! Review: This is a beautiful book we received as a gift and have purchased for many family members and friends for Christmas gifts. A tradition for every family!
Rating: Summary: The Night Before Christmas, Illustrated by Tasha Tudor Review: This is a beautifully illustrated version of the Christmas classic. Adults as well as children will be fascinated by the detailed drawings, which show animals as well as children and adults experiencing the wonder of Christmas.
Rating: Summary: A beautiful edition, to give as a gift Review: We have an inexpensive paperback version (see our reviews) of this classic poem, and we said that's enough for us. That was before we looked through this beautifully illustrated (by Bruce Whatley) edition of The Night Before Christmas. The lyrics are the same, from book to book, but the fanciful illustrations in this one are enough to engage adults and children as they read this book together. The perfect gift for any family whose Christmas tradition includes reading this classic!
Rating: Summary: The Night Before Christmas Review: What makes this book different from the rest of the Night Before Christmas books is the illustrations. The pictures are that of a traditional victorian home. The detail is incredible. Purchasing this book is probably one of the best buys I have ever made. We enjoy this book not only every day in December, but throughout the year.
