Summary: I love this tape!
Review: We borrowed it from the library but I'm afraid we'll have to buy a copy, we all love it so much. There are only 5 stories, but they are very well-told. This is a great tape to keep in the car. My 4 year old is fond of the story of the Great Worm (more like a giant serpent), even if it does get axed in half by a surprised woodcutter. And we laugh every time we hear The Sillies. Rosalind Hinman is a very talented, extremely entertaining story teller. The stories do contain a tiny bit of gruesome-ness, so if you are really opposed to that, then don't get this. But these very short aspects of the stories are told quickly and without any particular emotion, so I have found that they are not in the least bit disturbing to my sensitive child. (For example, in The Sillies, three family members contemplate how awful it would be if their daughter's first born child were to drown in the well. Nobody ever does drown or even get hurt in the story, but they do contemplate how sad it would be if it were to happen. However it's told in such a way that everyone listening has to laugh.) I do recommend this tape highly. I plan on getting a couple extra copies for upcoming birthdays...
