Rating: Summary: Awesome! 10 stars! Review: Move over Clancy, Bond is the best. This realistic techno-thriller about an invasion of South Korea is as good as it gets. Not only is the plot flawless, but the characterization is superb also. This book is a great escape to an exciting world--I felt as though I were actually there! If you haven't read Cauldron by the same author, I also recommend it highly. Another great techno-thriller if you like this one, is Arc Light by Eric Harry, about WWIII.
Rating: Summary: Well developed and believable plot Review: Mr. Bond does a very good job in this novel about the possibility of another Korean War. Since it is inevitable that he be compared to Clancy, I feel I must. His military expertise is beyond adequate and will satisfy even the hardcore fans of this genre. As far as character development, he has got Clancy beat. Granted, this is a war story, but we get to know characters much deeper in this work than in many of Clancy's novels. The narrator does a fairly good job (although Korean voices all tend to sound the same). The price is definitely worth it for the unabbridged version.
Rating: Summary: One of the early best... Review: One of the early books in the genre, I liked it particularly at the beginning, but the ending seemed oddly shortened to me. The description of the flight of F-16, jibes so well with Falcon 3.0 which I played incessantly when I first was reading this. The description of Kevin the infantry lieutenant was the best!
Rating: Summary: If you like action, read this! Review: Red Phoenix is one of the best books I've read. Put the movies Platoon, Top Gun, Crimson Tide, and Red October together and Red Phoenix is what you get. Except it's a book, and your free to let your imagination go. I'm not completly finished yet but so far, it's great. They should make this into a well made movie. It starts off a little slow, developing the plot and what not, but once the action hits, it really hits.
Rating: Summary: Pure Genius Review: Red Phoenix is so cool. The story is great, from the beginning to the end. The tactics, geopolitical stuff, battles; excellent. Read it!
Rating: Summary: Slow to start hard to put down. Review: That's right this book starts slowwwwwwww.But I found myself
not putting it down after I got into it. So, stick with it you'll enjoy yourself.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book - well worth reading Review: This a really cool bok to read. The scenario created , North Korea invading South Korea , could be one day real - which only makes this book very cool to read
Rating: Summary: not a heavy read, and i'm 14 Review: THIS BOOK IS GREAT. As the people above have said. in the beginning iz a slow read. it takes a lot of time introducing the characters from many many views. then the book takes step to step up to the awaited climax, war. I currently live in seoul, and this is one book dat shows the truthful and different views of korea and iz people. I'm 14 and to be honest iz not a heavy read. the professional terms of the weapons are a bit confusing but the glossary on the back helps. there are political scenes that I consider boring. but the action is fun. the greatest thing about this book is the variety of perspectives the book has on a single war. it doesn't antagonize one side, even though we know the NK's are the "antagonists". Mr. Bond is truthful to views of the war. you will see the 2nd korean war in the eyes of the north koreans, kim jong il, an american general, a logistics officer, infantrymen, and south korean generals. A great book!
Rating: Summary: not as good as it should have been. Review: This book is not as good as his others. It still packs a wollop. great but not fantastic as it should be.
