Rating: Summary: A Shame, a real shame Review: Reading "Bill and Hillary: the marriage" gave me gas. Poor journalism always does this. They may not be role models but they are not above or below the law. Andersen uses sources that have been discredited time and time again. We simply cannot trust him. This argument has nothing to do with Andersen's topic, the Clinton's, it has to do with Andersen's use of shoddy journalism. Now excuse me as I go take an antacid.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding and Shocking... Review: I could not put the book down, it is both reviling andshocking. The flow was excellant and provides Americans with a totalinsite of the most disgraced Presidential couple in American history in my opinion. Also, I have just completed 'BETRAYED' and it is an excellant book. I truly HOPE they both fade from future political office so our institutions of goverment may begin to heal, along with the American people.
Rating: Summary: Sorry, Too Late for the Coup Attempt! Review: This book is trash talk by and for sore losers with dirty minds. Somewhere along the line, some Republicans got it into their heads that the Presidency was theirs in perpetuity. This book is another example of their outrage at actually losing the White House, and in two consecutive elections at that. The well-funded Demonization of Bill and Hillary started in earnest in 1988, and continues to this late date. This particular literary pustule is just appalling, and so are the standards by which this mishmash of evil-minded fantasy was slapped together. Only those already consumed by hate will believe the poisonous tripe Mr. Andersen is trying to fob off on us. The few dozen remaining fans of Ken Starr will feel right at home in the sewer. Grownups, move on. There's nothing in this book for you.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely enticing! Review: Wow! I can not say enough to get you to read this fine work. It should be mandatory reading in all high school English classes. Any true American would own a copy.
Rating: Summary: A little man writes a small-minded screed Review: Anderson didn't so much write a book as he did toss a bucket of wild rumor into a blender and hit puree. Breathless allegations of "truth!" by Clinton-haters not withstanding, when you READ this "book" it's clear the most salacious rumor is just that -- unconfirmed, unsourced, sometimes unbelievable. I could write all kinds of fictions about people I dislike, too. It neither makes it true or right.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your time... Review: Simply put, this book was published to make money regardless of any responsibility for it's content. It's totally unsubstantiated, and I was very dissatisfied (I got it as a gift). I'm not a huge supporter of Clinton from a personal ethics standpoint, but imagine what kind of president the author of this book would make ?? This is a very good example of that old credo..life isn't fair !
Rating: Summary: Good Topic But Poor Subject, The Marriage Is Private! Review: I have come to recognize some basic trends in life. People who loved Reagan actually hate Clinton and those who hated Reagan actually love Clinton. This book is neutral and reports just the confirmed facts. However, that does not make it right only accurate. I noticed some reviewers saw the author on TV so what, that does not discount what he has written! What I found this book to be is a failure of nerve on our own media. The book outlines how spinners were able to fool the voters in 1992 and 1996 claiming a devout marriage when when we now it was an open marriage agreeed to by both parties. Again, so what, this truth could have been known and the Clintons still would have won. However, the need for deceit did not ruin this couples agreement between them, it only ruined their ability to perform, propose and pass what they wanted to achieve when they won high office. The Clinton's were successful in saving their Presidency but they lost their everlasting legacy in the process. What could have been is now a has been and what I read was acccurate but very disappointing. There is no one to blame especially the author, but the Clintons due to Bill's weakness were taken off their mission. This is what is so disappointing in the book. The pain of Hillary and Chelsea are real and we should move on from this subject, not because it did not happen, but because it is better to forget about it. Andersen writes excellent books but this is one I will not read again.
Rating: Summary: A MUST READ BOOK. Review: Christopher Andersen tells us the tale of the Clinton marriage in a straight forward and yet interesting way. Even though you think you have heard everything there is to hear about this couple, you find you really haven't.When I put the book down I became depressed by the fact that no one in the mainstream media -- especially television -- has previously told us the truth. The next depressing question is, "what else are they keeping from us?" And, "why?"
Rating: Summary: Save your Money Review: Look, I do not like Clinton, but just because you don't like someone doesn't make it ok to make up stuff about them. I bought this book and I wish I didn't. My money could have gone to better places, like UNICEF, instead of to this book. It's too bad people feel compelled to buy this book just because it rips on the Clintons - hello, folks he doesn't use sources that are credible. Let me say that again, he doesn't use sources that are credible, that means we cannot believe what he says. Perhaps Mr. Anderson should do more constructive things with his time like watch "The Price is Right." Its a good show, a fair show, and he could learn a thing or two from it.
Rating: Summary: from anti-Clinton to compassion Review: Saw the author on Powerball w/ Chris Matthews. Seemed like a bumbling stuttering fool. Hard to believe he can write well...but maybe the the paths dont cross. What's good about this book- seeing the story behind the man and woman that wear intricately blank masks in public. Think they would be better off if they stomped out their "black boxes" and just let the truth hang out - if its not as bad as Andersen says. In any case, the truth will come out whether it is now, in this book, three years from now, ten years from now or further out.
